You have to deny the Facebook app permission to access your storage in the app settings.

I would uninstall/disable Facebook as it's just an intrusive app. I use the app "Friendly" as a lighter, cleaner Facebook alternative. It even has ad-blocking.

I also never install the app, only access fb on browser.
Added as chrome bookmark and using the BB launcher's swipe up feature it's very quick and non-intrusive.

use Facebook LITE (has messenger integrated, works in hub+) or Metal (has messenger integrated as well as twitter, dark theme)... no intrusions... Tinfoil app also good

There are limited preventive measures you can take against Facebook via permissions. However, if you have a Facebook account, they probably already know everything about you anyways.

Another vote here for Friendly. It's also not nearly as hard on the battery as FB.
Haven't had FB on phone for well over a year, but when I did, updates to the app would often reset permissions and settings to what FB wanted.

It's made by FB... some get a notice "not available in your region" ...just get it on APKmirror then

I use opera mobile for Facebook and messenger lite. it works really well

interesting thread, thanks. I'm just trying out Friendly. I've always just used the browser and currently use Keyboard browser because I like the shortcuts (mainly to go to top or bottom). Just interesting to see the different things people use.
