In case someone is interested.
I set a shortcut to N to launch nova. But if u keep the default as BB Launcher then when u press home it comes to BBL.
So now if i want to use the shortcut , for example to dial someone, I press home and press the shortcut. Once IM done I press n and Im back to Nova as i want. Works well as a workaround.

I have Nova on mine but am using the BlackBerry Launcher. I use "N" to use Nova Notification tray action so that I don't have to pull it all the way.
I think you have to keep BBL as default. When i tried to keep Nova as default and launch BBL with a shortcut it does not launch but says to change default in settings. Very odd behaviour. I would much rather launch BBL as needed whilst keeping nova as default.
