The last 2 or 3 days I am getting google ads on my homescreen , while texting or reading twitter. I am trying to narrow down which app sold my soul to ad pop ups. I had some apps update and no new apps. Now I can't get rid of them. Google messages, Textra and instagram. Any ideas? I hate android on my BlackBerry

Having the same issue, noticed they pop up but it's very infrequent. I tried uninstalling some suspected apps but nope.

Ads are not part of Android OS itself. If this is happening then you likely installed an app that is causing it.

^^ This. Android itself does not come baked with advertisements, including manufacturer-baked versions of Android such as Blackberry.

Have you tried clicking the X button on the upper right corner of the ad, where it'll then ask whether that ad is blocking the view in Google which can then be answered in the affirmative thus prompting the ad to close?

I'm gonna guess no if you have no clue what I'm talking about.

I did click the ad choices x at the top right. It says ads by Google and why am I seeing this. It then tells me to select more personalized ads. I turned that off a few days ago and maybe that's why I am getting the full page ads. Nothing has worked yet, I will get an ad cleaner to find the culprit.

Hey, go into settings then open up your list of apps, look for an app that has no name, it will literally look blank might be at the top of the list or at the bottom, click the blank app and uninstall it. It is some sort of malware, best to update your passwords once uninstalled.

I found an app with only a gear as an icon called reader. Have never seen it before so I just force stopped it. Anyone know what it is?

No idea what that is but if you suspect it, best to uninstall asap and see if it fixes your problem.
