Google Pay stopped working for me as well months ago. didn't bother to troubleshoot.. just use the actual physical card at the point of purchase..works every single time!
OK. there is a similar thread in the K2 forum. it's not just us. with all of us complaining about the same problem at roughly the same time, I'd be surprised if it wasn't a BlackBerry sw update issue (more likely) or a GPay software update problem (less likely).
if GPay problem, I'm surprised this isnt fixed by now.
This happened to me once when my phone didn't automatically update to the latest security patch and was months out of date, my device became uncertified... Check for this in the play store under settings...
Whoa. That's something I hadn't considered.
As we start to hear rumblings of the end of security patches for K1, you're saying that GPay functionality will effectively end?
Not an expert I'm afraid... Hopefully not... Just recounting an issue I had... Got over it by using an autoloader to update my phone to the latest OS release and hey presto Google pay worked again...
My device is showing as certified.
Looking at the dates of my last transactions, and the update date showing for Google Pay in the Play Store, it seems to have coincided exactly with this most recent Google Pay update.
Because I have an unlocked NA version of the KeyONE, I am still on the update I received back in February, so this wasn't due to a recent BB update.
That's why cash is king.....never needs updating always current. Bonus no service charges just saying 😎
I also have KEYone BBB100-1 PRD-63116-001 USA unlocked on ABP819 from February. I would compare to many other KEYᵒⁿᵉ devices I see on CB forums with subsequent updates.

It makes me suspect China is poking a finger in the eye of US users telegraphed so discretely through Canada via BlackBerry (CEO has a bit of a China connection, I think) and BlackBerry Mobile, their minions...
With that said, Dow Jones rising in the longest period of US economic expansion in recorded history. China stocks are down (look at Baidu «7-16% and Alibaba -3% now), and I think they can't resist turning the screw.
Little wonder Hauwei is blocked.
Lolwhut? Try and stay on track here.
I have gotten my GPay to work again.
Here were the steps I took:
- contacted BlackBerry support to troubleshoot NFC. There were some funny things that were happening. Basically, we ran the hardware test: Dialer>*#2886#>MANU>NFC
- called Google Pay help line to see if there were any issues on their end. they found a token mis-sync.
- removed each payment card from the digital wallet.
- called each of my banks to have them manually remove Android Pay provisioning from their end.
- factory reset
- Wait 48 hrs (per instruction from one of my banks)
- Contact Google to have them validate that all bank provisioning had been pulled
- re-add cards. you may get hard-stopped by your bank's fraud dept here as banks will recognize your device as a "different" phone. don't keep trying, they'll either call you or you can dial in to their fraud department.
notes: it is helpful to only use one payment profile on your device GPay (e.g.,[email protected], [email protected]). each profile can show up as a separate mobile wallet on either the bank's end or Google's side, significantly increasing the likelihood of a mis-sync.
- don't keep re-adding / removing. this activity can get highlighted as suspicious by bank's fraud department. if it doesn't work, contact the bank and Google Pay. GPay will offer you a call back in the "Help and Settings" menu.
- a factory reset can also make your device look like a "different" device to either bank or GPay.
- multiple Google accounts can make each account look like a different device/mobile wallet.
hope this info is helpful!
I've been off the rails for years... MDR
That's cold, man... comes now PayPal
Oh and one additional note:
At least one bank specifically requested that I TYPE in card details (vs using picture of card) to re-add.
Not sure if entry method is passed to the bank and the attribute used to increase or decrease the likelihood of fraud indicator.
