hey folks, it appears the developers messed up when releasing AAS212 as they forgot to include the option to turn off ICON FRAMES

we had this option before with the previous build but currently it's not enabled in the latest built

it's causing the white backgrounds on all our google apps.. and a few others

It may simply be a design choice. OEMs are permitted to govern themselves with this feature.

it's literally one of the members of the build team forgetting to enable the option while putting the build together for release... it's still on the phone just not enabled...

So is there a way to enable it again?

This is a launcher option and not the OS I believe.

correct... but for us... if it were samsung, you can enable it straight from the main settings.

the option used to be in the launcher menu.

only hope now is if someone can talk to BlackBerry and find out about it.

B1aize or Kevin??? or any body else?

Same on AAR970, Unlocked CDMA for Verizon, updates direct, no carrier junk from Verizon.
Checked every setting, didn't see anything like pic.

Asking the DTEK50 section to have a look at this - I had a dtek50 but mine got nerfed so, IT MAY have been an option that I had ported over from back then...

I had no idea those options even existed before. When the white background suddenly appeared on my icons I thought the icons themselves had been updated! I thought I just needed an icon pack, but couldn't find one I liked. :/

agreed! I have a Moto E4 as my second backup phone (since it's so cheap) and there is absolutely NO way to remove icon frames. I emailed Motorola/Lenovo and they simply told me "the icons are working as they should" and closed my case. So I resorted to individually googling each icon, downloading it, and made them a custom icon in Nova Launcher.

When the stupid icons debuted on my KEYone, I thought I could do the same thing, BUT!!! BlackBerry Launcher doesn't allow you to edit the icons!!! NOO!!! So I complained via their official support app. They replied back saying my complaint was sent to the developers team and they appreciate my feedback.

We did have the option before... I've been in contact with the customer support team as well as the developer teams... They are working on fixing the missing option
