My first Keyone got that screen lift (upper left corner). I returned for a full refund. Then when it was back in stock on Amazon I ordered it and came the next day. I'm glad to to say that so far there are no issues.

I wear dress pants for work, and I put my phone in those pant pockets when I walk around. Otherwise it's on my desk or in my cup holder when I drive. That's the typical logistics of my phone. If the screen does start to lift again, I doubt its because the phone has been manhandled.

Or maybe he glued the hell out of his device so it wouldn't pop out as easily lol.

I have noticed that most of (if not all) the screen lifts are on units ordered off of Amazon. Has anybody had this problem on units ordered through BestBuy?
Purchased at a local BestBuy in Houston, TX on June 01 the day after launch. I had to get off work early and fly across the city at 4PM because it was the ONLY device in Hou for sale in person. Joy!

I see your point, but I can't do so since I'm too spoiled with keyone functionality..

If this happens again, I will just super glue and wait for the 64gb internal+ 4gb ram all black version from korea(rumored) to be imported.

Hope that it doesn't end that way.

But the passport and priv was disasters in terms of build quality.
I don't think superglue is a very flexible adhesive, so I'd be dubious about that strategy.

If anyone bought a KEYone from Amazon and had the screen detach (fully or partially), take it up with Amazon, not BB Mobile. Amazon knows what they are doing.

I've heard of one Best Buy unit shedding its screen: https://forums.crackberry.com/blackb...-glue-1112360/

The earliest reports predate the phone being sold on Amazon, for that matter.

Man, I just got a reply from BBMo Technical Support that if I want to know when the fixed batches are available to buy I should... click "register button" at blackberrymobile.com. This company is a joke. You couldn't make this up!
Its a chinese company!!!!!! this is ridicoulas....how about some real support from waterloo, from the real blackberry, but its not even their phone so its not their fault!!

BlackBerry mobile is monitoring these posts, and I would think that they are going to take some type of action in the very near future to prevent this from happening. I have a hard time thinking they are just ignoring this issue as it does seem to keep popping up.
I think so too. I just hope there will be some easy way to confirm which units will have this v2.0 manufacturing treatment. Like a revision code, post manufacture date, etc.

I personally am having mine replaced by BlackBerry mobile that way I get one that has the fix applied. I have spoken with them and they told me that the one I get as a replacement will be a fixed version
Well, they certainly aren't going to tell you that you replacement is NOT fixed. My guess is that their support is outsourced, off-site, and has no idea what the issue is or how it is going to be fixed.

I doubt the answer is as simple as "add more glue" anymore than "add more tape" is the answer to any underlying problem. If the device has multiple large pieces then trying to keep them together when the unit is stressed is going to be difficult.

I assume the phone factory is automated by assembly line? The glue applicator went out and of adjustment through one shift, Or as glue tanks go low the glue quantity drops before adding more, Or they have to add a solvent to thin the glue and factory worker doesn't measure or just eyeballs it because they did it so many times they believe they can cowboy it. It's not magic nor is it mystical, people aren't following directions. Regardless, telling people to fix it yourself is reckless, if the phone is under warranty. The phones need to be return ASAP which will help the factory figure out which manufacturing worker and or Engineer is screwing up and which batch/Lots to hold and or call back from sellers.

I too like the attitude regarding this. Hope everything works out for the best. I would be saddened if it happened to me, but I would also be patient and simply work it out in one way or the other.

MacGyver would use industrial double sided adhesive tape or the same adhesive often behind batteries commonly found in almost all mobile devices, or bubble gum, whatever was handiest at the time.

Amazon is way faster than the warranty claim, but both avenues will most likely result in you having a KEYone without this problem.

Join the club baby! Just send it back to amazon man. Buy another unit after this mess has been sorted out. Mine felt very solid out of the box but it didn't take it very long to start lifting. At least both of my passports lasted 6-7 months before they lifted. I probably wouldn't have noticed it yet if I wasn't so paranoid about my screen falling out. In a case the whole time. Never dropped or put in my back pocket.
My Passport was solid for 12+ months.

My old passport, q10, or priv won't serve me good enough like this keyone does.

But yes.. I see that blackberry really has some quality control issue for past few years.. I had to replace my passport twice (one with screen lifting, another one with back cover creaking), and priv twice as well(not working volume buttons and poor GPS issue).

Even the final passport I settled still has an issue with twisting body frame, and the final priv I had also had very annoying creaky and clicky screen and back cover issues. So... I didn't end up getting nice one at the end. I rather gave up on lottery play.

I didn't have any issues with q10, classic, bold, curve, pearl, and with all other berries I owned before. + even all other Samsungs I have owned never had hardware defects at least.. (Didn't like the software part though..)

I hope that I don't have to play that game again this time with keyone. If this happens again, I will just super glue and wait for the 64gb internal+ 4gb ram all black version from korea(rumored) to be imported.

I had 3 PRIV warranty replacements. I thought is was frail and poorly built. Then, it broke on drops, body once and screen once. That never happened w previous Blackberries.

I haven't experienced the screen lift on my two year old Passport or my brand new KEYone. I've given up driving for a few years now. I wonder if the people who have experienced this issue leave their phones inside their cars when it gets really hot. That may be triggering this issue. Just a hypothesis on my side. Excessive heat can cause adhesive to loosen, and even dilation of a set of materiales, all together may be affecting the KEYone's construction. Find out and share. I suggest not to leave the KEYone or any phone inside of a car baking, or any likely situation.

I would think that the defective units when returned to best buy and Amazon would still end up back at TCL for repair?

Possibly, but the thing with Amazon is they'll send the replacement before the user sends in the defective unit. For expediency, going through Amazon is preferable for the end user. The one thing a user might have to worry about is if the Amazon replacement is also defective, but I strongly believe they're (TCL and the retailers) on top of this behind the scenes.

How it's handled after that is probably what you're thinking, they'll be fixed up and perhaps repurposed or refurbished.

After reading about some people also having build issues with their PRIV, I'm surprised because I've been using my PRIV primary since launch (my SIM is in my KEYone now, but I still carry and use the PRIV) and it's still very solid. Yes, it always had the slightly loose back and creaks a little, but that hasn't caused any build quality issues that broke the phone or prevented it from being totally useful.

I use the PRIV naked with a holster. Still a great device. Everybody's going to have a different opinion, but I personally like the PRIV and KEYone builds.

Don't get me wrong though, I would be saddened if anything bad happens or happened to my favorite devices.

There would be bunch of people like you who never experienced any build issue with their priv or passport since there will definitely be more normal units than defective.

However, the possibility of getting defective for priv and passport were way higher than any other brands that I have ever owned before... (even including other berries I owned before those two). It's very unusual to get two three phones in a row with some kind of defectiveness.

There were reasons why those two innovative devices didn't help blackberry coming back at all. And I'm afraid this time could be no different than priv and passport.

I have always chosen blackberry over any other brand's phone since 2001. And I have never experienced so much of frustration about blackberry built phones before passport.

I am giving my last chance to blackberry as a long time blackberry fan with this keyone since I love everybit of this phone Except the screen lifting issue that I am just having.

Good points and fair enough. I understand what you're saying for sure. Naturally, I too would be disappointed with a loose screen.

My experiences with BlackBerry smartphones has been (excuse the cliché) ninety-nine percent great and very reliable. I've had problems here and there that were/are easy to deal with.

My Passport SE is great. I do realize people have had bending problems or screen pops due to the awkward design of all Passport models. Understanding that the design is unorthodox, I handle(d) the Passport with care, probably more so than other designs.

No matter the design, I also take very good care of every BlackBerry and they're never in my back pockets, rarely in the front either.

My specific collection of my favorite BlackBerry's have all been of exceptional quality and I really enjoy them all barring the usual little problems. I suppose that's "lucky" for some, but reasons I stick with BlackBerry devices.

I really hope you end up finding what you want and need with BlackBerry and if they don't measure up, the best news is there's a ton of devices available people find to be awesome.

    All the best.
