    Hello,

I'm looking to buy a micro SD card together with my pre-order of the Keyone, but am wondering what is the highest speed that the Keyone can transfer to/from a micro SD card?

I can't find this information anywhere.

    Thanks

    /Peter

The 625 SoC supports up to UHS-1... doesn't give the Speed Class that the KEYone would be capable of supporting.

    Hi,

Thanks to both of you for your replies.

I will not use it as adoptable storage. I will only use it for picture, videos, music etc.

So in that case would the KEYone SoC support the SanDisk Extreme (UHS vid speed class 30/UHS speed class 3):

    I'm assuming not.

I like this card https://www.amazon.co.uk/Toshiba-Exc...UvbUpU12872450 . It does 75 MB/s read and around 50 MB/s write speeds with other Snapdragon 625 devices and is a great card overall.

I have been using this one in my last couple devices. Not sure if it's making full use of the read/write speeds but it's fast.

This thread has caused me to look into this further as I want to get a microSD card that is ‘fast’ enough for the phone but not too fast as I do not want to spend unnecessary money on a fast card if the K1 can’t utilise it. Obviously I don’t anything too slow so as not to take advantage of the phone’s storage speed.

There are a few places that quote storage speed as ‘eMMC 5.1, SD 3.0 (SDCC)’ for the 625.
Qualcomm introduces three new chipsets - meet the Snapdragon 625, 435, and 425
It is the last bit that is the most interesting ‘SDCC’. I can find little to no info on this speed. The one and only mention (apart from quoting it as part of the spec of the 625) is on this French Lexar price list. It refers to the 300x64GB microSD card, which is useful for 4K.
    https://perrot-image.ch/uploads/perr...12.04.2017.pdf

Looking further into card speeds led me to the Qualcomm 625 video.

At 0:59 it states that this processor is capable of 4K capture and playback. Now according to this wiki article
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secure..._.28UHS.29_bus
my understanding is that 4k capture is linked to minimum write speeds, not maximum. Terms like UHS-I, UHS-II are linked to max speeds. However terms like U1, U2 and V6, V10, V30, V60, V90 (video speed class) are linked to minimum sequential writing speeds. According to a table on that wiki article V30 is needed for 4K and as such is the best suited for the 625 and hence the K1. Anything faster such as V60, which is capable of 8K is too fast (otherwise the video would have stated ‘8K capture and playback’) and hence if you get one of these to use in the K1 you are paying for extra card speed that your device will not be able to utilise.

To sum up, you need a card that is V30 classified or at least has a minimum sequential write speed of 30 MB/s. Anything with minimum sequential write speeds as fast as 60MB/s or faster you are paying for performance you will never see on the K1. With regards to max read speeds, that's anyone's guess!!

Out of curiosity I tried to look for V60 cards. I don't think there are any. I would go for a V30 and not worry about max read speed. Something like this should be perfect

There is no best card, there are probably several. With the 625 chipset you won't get more than 80/60 MB/s read/write speeds, but maybe you would want a faster card anyway. I recommended the Toshiba Exceria Pro M401 because it's reasonably priced, got great speeds and access times. Others recommended SanDisk, others will recommend Samsung, ultimately it's your own choice.

There is no sole V30 card, it's a speed class, recommended for 4k video recording https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secure...d_class_rating

Any SD card over 32 GB is XC, i.e. SDXC. "XC" actually just means "extended capacity" (cards with a size of 64 GB to 2 TB).
    https://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/d...-compatibility
Your problem could be a faulty card, dirty contacts (most likely, really) etc., could even be a phone's hardware problem, though I highly doubt that.

Anyway, XC in general is certainly not the issue here.

Many k1 soffer about this issue.
my one (Sandisk Ultra 64gb xc i Classe 10) was unmounted from my BB Classic, and put inside my new k1. So, definitely i dont think the problem is the sd card...

This isn't related to card capacity or speed, as I have the same error with both hc and xc cards. I'm pretty sure that something is screwed with the software part of the card reader.

I've checked the SD Card specs for the KeyOne - SD 3.0 (SDCC), which must be different from the SDHC and SDXC. So which brand of the correct spec SD Card is most favored for the KeyOne?
