Thanks for the image, it looks quite basic as far as the dynamic range is concerned and while I'm sure there will be tons of other examples that demonstrate that it's a great camera on the same level as the top camera phones, there are already enough videos that show that it is not up there. Even if there is like one or two videos trying to really stretch the truth.
I used point and shoot, so maybe some settings adjustments would help. Maybe it's the algorithms blackberry uses. I don't no. But whilst a camera is useful. It suits my purposes as I use my phone for communication more than anything.
It may have the same pixel sensor but a lot goes into programming and tuning. This is where samsung and apple have the upper hand. I doubt BB has a specialized team working around the clock in image optimization.

My experience is that people don't want reality with phone photos, they want processed photos. JPGS do that. So the question is who manipulates photos the best to make them pretty.
All of my Nikon cameras, as well as Canon, process the photo when they give you JPGS. That's why most pros shoot in RAW. I have my camera set to shoot both simultaneously and I down tune the jpg processing. I don't want cameras, or in this case an app, making decisions for me. Having said that, I process they heck out of my photos so clarity is not number one for me.
