Surely I cannot be the only keyone owner this has happened to...

I tend to clean my phone every so often (germ phobia) upon removing it from the case, I noticed the back plate (battery cover) starting to pop off. WHAT A PAIN IN THE BUTT to get it back in evenly!!

Me being me decided ok it'll be best to start from scratch, and remove the whole back plate, exposing the battery and everything sensitive!

    WRONG!

I had to modify the back plate where it connects to the lens cover (probably a big mistake). And I finally got most of the edges tucked away and snapped into place. But the bottom edge closest to the speakers does not want to snap in!! What the heck?!

When I say "modify" the only thing I did was cut the top of the piece that connects to the lens cover. Therefor, making the entire top edge of the battery cover flush.

Anyone have this problem with the battery cover?
Advice? How to get it all back on evenly?

Anyone know where I can buy a new battery cover?

Does the key2 have this problem?

You can just buy a new back cover through Ebay.

I had hell getting mine on the first time, but now it's easy. You have to start around the camera lens area and get the top in first.. Then the slack in the center will allow the bottom to go in easily.. Then just pop the side in and then one pop right around the logo. I keep covers on Hand. I had a spigen ring on mine and when I took it off the cover came with it.

The rear panel is not intended to be user serviceable.

But I too replaced mine once after messing with it too many times.

Why put a cheap plastic cover on the back in the first place??? To save a few $$$ I am guess which goes to quality build of cell phone

yes, same thing here: bottom back cover between the 2 speakers lifted..can't push it back down, it won't snap back in. I don't want to take any chance by removing it and try to re install it. When is the next Keyone / 3 coming out???!!!

I had the same problem shortly after I purchased the Keyone about a year ago. I ended up putting a clear case on the phone which keeps the backplate / logo visible and prevents it from popping off. Of course that didn't solve the problem but it made me forget about it for several months until I saw this thread.

I tend to do the same thing. Take my case off and give the phone a wipe down every other week or so.

One time I noticed that the phone looked uneven on the sides. So I took the case off and noticed that the backplate was slightly raised on one side. Thankfully it just snapped back in.

Glad someone made this thread because if I took mine all the way off, I would have been lost lol.

Hmmm. I have NEVER cleaned a phone or used a paper towel to open the bathroom door and I'm still alive.

I never used to think about it when I was younger. Now that I'm almost 30, and have heard scientific studies proving there are more germs on our cell phones than on toilet seats?! Yea I'll be wiping my phone down with lysol every other day lol.

wipe lysol would be a really bad idea - achohol wipe (not soak into it) with 70% would be nice (the achohol stay on the surface long enough to react with germs) and wait until complete dry. if you just want to get rid of finger prints, get 90-99% achohol and use a tissue paper "drag over" the surface (do not rub the surface of display) 2- 3 times - it would be clean like new (can't do anythng with scratch). Finger print oil readily dissolve in to the achohol and "lift" it from the surface via evaporation - the 70% is not evaporate readily, therefore, little "lift" action. Good luck.. but no lysol... IMHO.

With the first wipe, good bye the oleophobic coating on the display... then comes the drooling into the speaker & mic area with dubious survival of those, and the PKB may go next... keep wetness off the phone... if you have germophobia, wear gloves

Unless you share your phone with a lot of other people, it's likely to be mostly your own germs anyway.

    So, really, what's the point?

Considering everything we touch, gas pump handles, credit card machines, casino slot machines, it goes on and on, I just don't worry about it and I don't use hand sanitizers. Considering as kids we ate dirt, maybe worms, who knows what else we ate and touched, and with all of that I turn 65 next month.

I been using two cases for my phone over the last two years, a Seidio dual bumper case for work and a clear minimal thin cover for meetings and formal situations. I switch between them several times a week and both are very snug covers, yet to date , although I expected some issues, I've had no back cover or screen lifting, even with the pushing, squeezing and torquing to get the covers off and on.

I've always periodically wiped my phone down with mild cleaner or 90% alcohol and over the years have never had issues with my phone. As far as "drooling into the speakers etc..." you'd have to be using an overly saturated rag or wipe to get fluid into those areas, which common sense should prevent. A lightly dampened wipe barely leaves a film, let alone excess that can enter the phone. Works for me and I see no reason to stop.

There's and NFC antenna, but that's just two pressure contacts keeping it connected.

There are also two contacts on the motherboard that connect to the WiFi antenna on the back cover. They are located about a 1/2 inch directly below the camera. If you don't get a flush fit there you will notice that your WiFi signal will tank.

Same issue with the keyone: flimsy plastic back cover began popping out. Got worse over time. I couldn't snap all of the clips back in without some other clip snapping out. I noticed that there was a bulge in the middle of the back cover. I pulled back the cover, and see that the bulge is caused by the foil that wraps the battery. It's like an air bubble - probably warm air as the battery heats up. I pierced just the foil with a sharp object (razor blade) to let the "air out of the balloon", now the back cover was flat again.

But I had snapped the cover back in so many times, the clips became worn out or damaged on one side. In the meantime, I had ordered this case from an eBay seller in China:

"For BlackBerry Keyone Priv Imak Luxury Matte Business Leather Back Case Cover" was the eBay item title. Cost $12, took two weeks to arrive. Put it on, now the Keyone feels like a true flagship phone. The case is thin enough to fit in my custom-fit keyone car cradle (Pro-Clip USA), my fat thumbs no longer trigger the dreaded mute convenience key, the phone feels twice as solid...and frankly looks better, it's almost like a new phone. Very pleased now.

They make this case for the LE and I'm tempted to grab it but I don't like the fact that it doesn't wrap around all parts of the phone, leaves some areas exposed.
