does anyone got clear indication it is bb10 or droid? i might be missing something? In house phone means BB design I assume? many thx.
No indication at all. The problem is the Bloomberg interviewer failed to ask this question. Yes, "in-house" means BlackBerry-designed (not a third-party reference).

PKB has to be as big as the Classic or they blew it.
I expect it will and no bigger, because since it'll likely be an Android handset, BlackBerry must comply with the 4:3, 5:3 or 16:9 screen requirement.

What if it turns out to be a prestige/luxury product as a last hurrah for BlackBerry in-house phones? It'll be made from the best materials and have high-end features, but unaffordable for most of us?

It has be be longer than the Classic to accommodate a rectangular screen, most likely either a 3:2 (1.5) or 4:3 (1.33) aspect ratio.

Actually all he said was that it's coming and that a deal is close. He was also saying the same thing about two months ago, and earlier in the year that 10.3.3 would be here in March.

So, yes, most likely before Christmas 2017, if Chen can get a signed partnership to build it before this Christmas.

What's more is that there could be two versions, Android and BB10. I would love it.

thx. look like still have hope: (1) hopefully, BB10, (2) in house design, better material and process selection hopefully: no glass breaking type... 9983 or 9900 type of keyboard-material and process, good reliability - proven technology (3) good design - classy but not tacky.. unique stand out... (4) metal/"glass like" - get perception of richness... (5) good color... piano black for me... or pearl white... Navy would do... but not pixel blue please..

It can only be made in partnership with an existing Android manufacturer from a modified reference design. Anything else would be too expensive.

It's quite amusing that there are still those that believe a new BB10 device is in the works.

Heck, even Porsche Design went full Android recently.

let's just hope the device isn't too expensive... since he did say it is the last "in-house" designed device... for now at least.
Will be more than the DTEK60.

What an irony to call a cigarette brand "hope" ... Does that stand for "hope to not get lung cancer"? ^^

Just like he also confirmed 10.3.3? Just like the COO confirmed there wouldn't be? Yeah I'm not treating anything as gospel at this point. I will put on hold my plan to switch to Priv though.

One thing he did not say is that it will be the Mercury as we know it. For all we know at this point it could be a high end flagship, or a low end piece of junk.

That's why I'm waiting to see what details emerge later. I'm hoping we get something more concrete by end of year.

Chen did not say anything about Mercury, just that a keyboard phone was being planned.

Given that he has to find a partner willing to take the risk for making and selling it, and the biggest market for keyboard phones is in the under $100 range, I wouldn't expect a flagship Mercury type device.

So much speculation... it really sucks how people post speculations as facts. Where are words like "I think it will be..." "I assume..." or "I bet it will be..."

Naaaap...Mercury was not be intended to be a flagship! Moreover it was stated, that the PBK will be an inhouse, whatrver that means. I feel now again the people coming and try to destroy all these hopes and good signs...
