You were one of the fortunate ones to have a good experience with your phone. But the fact still remains, It's not about me casting negativity this product. Your whole thesis seems to miss that the launch is nothing to do with Blackberry.

It is what it is and people have their opinions! Yes, TCL could have gone full tilt but I understand the catiousness! It's TCL's 1st rendition of a keyboard device's! Overall I love my K1, and it serving it's usefulness and purpose for me! I simply love it and can't wait for further generations of BB/TCL kb devices!!!

*Sigh* You guys are taking this way too personal. As with any product I want to buy, I do the following before purchase:

1. Read what the product is designed to do.
The Blackberry Keyone does what it is designed to do. Its primary focus is for the business user. I am such a user. This is why I own several Blackberry products and they do suit my needs. I wanted to add the Keyone to my arsenal.

2. Reviews
I watch every YouTube video review I can on the product. I read forums. I read other people's take on the product good or bad. This is called researching a product. Since there is no demo available to test it, I have to use what is readily available to me. I believe this to be a good source of information...people who actually have the product and sharing their experiences. Good or bad. I have to take it all into account.

3. Perception
A lot of you have stated that you have no problems whatsoever with this phone. That is great. Does this mean I simply ignore the remaining people who actually have an issue with this phone? Let me break it down like this...

Performance - this is a perception. Some people don't have a problem with it, some do.

Screen not bright enough - Again, this is a perception. To some people, screen brightness is fine. To others, not so much.

Speaker not loud enough - See above

Multiple reports of screens popping out of phones with little or no effort? I'm simply pointing out the obvious. This is not a perception. This is a design flaw. For this reason, I'm waiting it out meaning I just want a better built product for me to buy with my money. What's is wrong with stating this? It's really that simple. I'm not trying to spend money on a phone with the hope that I'm one of the fortunate ones. These problems exist people. And it should be addressed. Take this anyway you want but this is a forum and I have a concern. I'm posting my concern.

No matter what phone you research with reviews and forum posts, you will find people who have issues. Ultimately you either are going to try it for yourself or you aren't. Simple as that.

The PRIV is still doing it for me everyday. Slider function is awesome the price isn't a problem anymore at 279 and the battery isn't an issue for me I average 15 hours before I need to hook it up to a charger then the 2.0 quick charge has enough to get me the rest of the day in no time. If I could get rid of snapchat this phone would last me a full day no problems.

In my opinion this is the first Blackberry that can go toe to toe with the big guys. Don't get me wrong, I might prefer the Passport but it was missing apps and the camera was good but not nearly as good as the other phones out at the time - the Keyone can get shots as good as the S8, G6, Pixel and Iphone...at least in good lighting. There is no app gap here. So anyway I feel that the OP is probably half correct...there has been some issues with the launch at a time when Blackberry really can't afford problems anymore... but for many of us it's been glorious!

Okay first, this was a great post. I agree with almost all of it. I've owned almost all BB10 devices and the KEYᴼᴺᴱ is my favorite. And yes, it can finally contend against the big boys. The Priv was almost there, but it flopped. And yes cb forums is alot of doom and gloom and it's a shame because everyone in here knows how great of a device this machine really is. We should all be excited for the future of this TCL/BBerry merge.

Op, although I do not agree totally your assessment of K1, I would apprecite your sensitivity and correctness for BB products: Playbook, Priv, dteks are less genuine BB (I call them BB flavour) products compare to the PP. I gave you high five for that. Enjoy K1 while you can-the ture BB design with half baked MFG. Reception problem might due to the missing of para and APN (decouple from carrier comes with price-trade offs from paying them). As for the rest, it out of BB hands and into BBM hands. I, personally, like it (not love it... but like it very much for its functionality... although I don't own it - brought one and gave it to my relative... she need more than I do... still using z30 wifi only... I am going for the genuine hardware/software integration... i might change my mind later for K1..).

Nice post and from someone who was thinking of buying a keyone the negativy help in my decision not to purchase one. Phones are too expensive to get something that doesn't do the job or has early defects this is why the forms are great. I am sure BlackBerry will correct all the problems but until then I will hold off.

I am not a fan of the launch itself at all. Delays and so little / such poor stock management that it is likely never to truly be in stock are major faults.

However, the premise about the phone itself being terrible is all wrong. I especially suspect a different perspective among people who have actually used it (excellent build, keyboard, performance, battery, productivity), with the exception of those few who had a defective unit (screen separation).

CE71. You're absolutely correct. I don't own a Keyone. That still doesn't make all of the screen lift issues that are reported in these forums go away now does it? As I stated earlier, the problem exists. Not with you but others.

That's what I thought. When you get one and experience the issue, then talk. I am sure the problem exists but you are preaching it like you own one. I have a Passport (own one) and don't have the dozen or so issues that many people on this forum has reported. If I just based all my facts on what I read in the forums, I probably believe that ALL phones have big problems which definitely is not the case.

I did not change any camera settings. It is not just the documents, it is photographs generally. Even with the lens cleaned, my K1 photos have a darker, overcast, less sharp quality than the S8.

Some of you have said that there are a lot of good working phones with no issues. As I stated many of times before, that is good news for you.

Some of you are saying that any phone basically can have issues. This is true.

But a lot of you seem to keep skirting around the big elephant in the room. The design flaw. Some of you will continue to defend this phone until death do you part. Again, I'm happy for you and I mean that sincerely. No one is debating this with you. Keep in mind that my beef is not with you, so stop taking it as such. My beef is with TCL/BB. Do you work for them? Are you the CEO? Did you build this phone yourself? I'm guessing no. I just want TCL/BB to correct a wrong so I CAN buy this phone and not feel like I'm taking a gamble on a good or bad phone.

all this for a phone lol what is this world coming into.. I hate iPhones so I don't buy it , as simple as that... u don't own a K1 it's kinda hard to judge the phone,, some people might say that there's a lot of complains about the phone but there's also a lot of us here that the phone is great... move on if u don't want K1 end of story

That's what I thought. When you get one and experience the issue, then talk. I am sure the problem exists but you are preaching it like you own one. I have a Passport (own one) and don't have the dozen or so issues that many people on this forum has reported. If I just based all my facts on what I read in the forums, I probably believe that ALL phones have big problems which definitely is not the case.

Precisely! And the same thing applies to literally any forum regarding a complicated technological device, such as a smartphone.

If you want a balanced opinion about a device, read real consumer and professional reviews _not_ forums like this one!
