I have gone through permissions to stop programs from loading but is there somewhere to check for programs using data that I don't know? I usually hit the square to see if anything is open as my data usage is high. thanks

If you go into your data settings, you can check which apps are using data in the background, and I believe you might even be able to stop them.

As a rule of thumb, I usually let everything have WiFi access, and only some things have cellular.

Although if your usage is very high, I'd check the usual suspects first (Facebook, whatsapp, snap chat, BBM and such)
