Ever thought about the fact, that the phone heats up with every reboot? So since rebooting many times seemingly helps, I guess it is still connected to temperature.

Also I still in doubt that it has anything todo with software. It is most probably a condensator or other electrical element, which is malfunctioning.

Side note: of course the phone internals have to be heated up. It's not just the ambient/outside temperature.

Problem solved after installing two Android updates, first was a big file (1,4GB / Android8), after installing this the lines where still there, short time later another update popped up, about 530MB, installed --> lines gone.

I have that also. It's been going on for quite awhile. I would bet a lot more people have it happen and either ignore it or haven't really paid attention to it.

Just to revisit this problem with the display. Has anyone found a way to fix this? I am finding myself more and more distracted by the alternating gray/black bars on my display. Almost enough to accept a carrier device and go back on contract. I can't justify another device after only 14 months

Just try a reboot. A reboot. A reboot. Again and again or a „battery pull“ with power button and Volumen up or down at the same time for 10 seconds. It solves every issue for now xD

Could moisture be the issue? If some people report the issue going away with heat, repeated reboots or updates (which also would cause heat and a reduction of RH), that could make sense.

Try microwaving your phone. I use this method to make stale doritos crispy again.
