Heh. We managed to get CrackBerry pre-loaded in SOME way. :rotfl:
How do I get rid of it? Not only it's localized in a horrible way, but also it installs apps by itself without even asking me. This morning I woke up to find an "App market" ('Better than Google Play'). I don't want this on my phone appear from out of nowhere.
The Preview app? You don't as far as I know. It's pre-loaded and you can't remove it. You can try disabling it from the Settings but I can't recall if that works.
Tried that, didn't work.
Any chance this app could be updated to be less annoying? I really don't need any third-party App store (Google Play and F-Droid are just fine).
So far today this Preview app has:
1. Installed third-party App store
2. Pops up with some "Likee" app promotion suggesting me to "Update it" (even though I never had it in the first place)
3. Tried to install a Clean Master app
But most of all, Android tells me that "Notifications for this app cannot be disabled". Is this supposed to be the most secure Android platform out there?
And according to Android battery watcher, it ate 6% of the battery today. It's more than WhatsApp that I've been using constantly.
It's not the Preview App giving you the issue. It is either malware or you have recently installed an App that is causing this is issue. Try the following:
The easiest way to identify the culprit is to:
1- Open Playstore
2- Go to my apps and games
3- Choose Installed
4- Sort by last used
5- Scroll through the listed apps and find the one that was recently used without actually having opened the app
6- Uninstall the app and report to Google
Well, no. It's the preview app. Here are couple of screenshots: one with the pop ups promoting some questionable apps, another is the Preview main page with aforementioned apps, and the third is the system info on the Preview app, which (as you can see) cannot be deleted. I can assure you I don't have any other "Preview" apps installed on my phone.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think it's possible for a bloatware to replace the original system Preview app on the device.
What happens when you follow the instructions Yamahammer have you?
Nothing suspicious, only the apps I have actually opened recently, all from the Google Play.
That is very strange. If my advice doesn't help you it may be time to do a factory reset.
Can you please confirm that at least the Preview app on my screenshots looks legit to you? Does other KeyOne users see the same promoted apps within the Preview?
Yes it does look like the Preview App, i personally don't see these promoted apps even if I click on Updates.
Damn. That's scary TBH. With developer setting disabled, and all the apps from Google play / F-droid, having this kind of bloatware popped up on a supposedly secure BlackBerry is discouraging.
The Storage size appears to be in line, but Data used is off the charts.
I wouldn't necessarily call it bloatware, but I might consider that somehow malware may have been downloaded to your phone probably through some app you downloaded. Playstore is not perfect, some bad developers have been known to create these issues.
Totally understand that. I'm not a developer, so I'm asking if it is technically possible for an app to replace a system app (Preview in this case)? I thought that it would require at least root access or an alternate loader.
At least it's warm in Moscow this week, on the bright side ;-)
Well it's seems to be toggling something in the Preview App somehow, I agree.
Could this be another, TCL gift, system update?
As a temporary solution, I put preview inside of a locker app, at least this stops the notifications.
Do you think I should submit this issue to the BlackBerry support team?
Mine is from Optiemus, BB100-7, that haven't received even security updates since January.
Chinese or Indian? What a choice of BlackBerry nowadays.
You can inquire with them and let them know but I do believe it's intentional and based on the regional aspect of the device variant. In other words, it's not Malware or something taking over the app. It's there on purpose for that specific KEYone variant.
Given that info you won't be able to Contact BlackBerry Mobile Support because they will refer you to Optiemus who of course won't offer you any help.
In your experience, are recent BlackBerry devices from other regions besides China and India do a better job in regards to regular updates and the absence of bloatware/unwanted apps?
