Anyone know what the actual "boost mode" does on the charging options?

Just curious if this type of charge would drain quicker than the standard charge?

Battery of these phones is very impressive especially for android who's notorious for poor battery life since inception.

Boost mode just charges the phone faster. That's it.

a Quick Charge 3.0 charger is what you should look for to get the fastest charging. but I like to charge overnight and slower charging creates less heat. Heat is what degrades the battery so I prefer slower overnight charging

QC3 has variable voltage/amperage. Best for heat, best for ALL types of charging situations.

So is Quick Charge 3.0 the perfect option for "slower overnight charging" as you say? Or all you meant by "slower overnight charging" is that we better not use boost mode if not necessary, because it'll heat up and degrade the battery?

Boost mode does nothing more than throttle performance and shut things down to decrease battery usage during charging.

Does the charging cable make any difference?
I have a cable suitable for usb type c ports, not branded. And I wanna buy a QC3, but don't know whether or not I'll need a branded cable too or I can buy the charger only and save some extra bucks.

Hard to say. I've heard of a couple of failures on some cheap cables. But that doesn't imply that all cheap cables are bad.

Received today Blitzwolf QC charger type-c 3.0 and a 2.0 cable, also blitzwolf.
The charger itself gets pretty hot while charging, the phone gets a bit hotter, especially on the back, where the logo is.

Does anyone share my experience?

p.s. I charge the phone while it is turned off completely.

No. QC3 adapts the power to exactly what the battery needs throughout the entire charging cycle - minimizing energy lost to heat.
