Can anyone confirm that the Arabic (or Cyrillic as I believe it's called) keyboard is definitely a QWERTY and not AZERTY? Everyone picture that I"ve seen of the Cyrillic keyboard has the "Q" as the top left hand key. I wouldn't want to be stuck with that button being an "A". Does anyone know what markets use AZERTY and which KEYone variant that would be?
AZERTY would be France, but no idea what the PRD would be. Everything outside of Europe should pretty much be QWERTY, though.

Anyway, this is a silver KEYone with a Cyrillic (Russia) keyboard, although I think the Russian bronze model has its own OEM partition for some reason. Not sure what's different, though.

And here's a black KEYone with the Arabic (Middle East) keyboard:

Thanks for the info, @thurask ! Do you know if the OS performs exactly the same regardless of the pkb?

It should, the only difference between, say, a Middle East and a UK BBB100-5 is just the paint on the keys. Outside of China and maybe Russia, every BBB100-5 should have identical software.

Once again... thanks for the great info!

The only thing left now is deciding whether I can live with the extra bits of gold paint on each of the keys. I rarely look at my fingers when I type on my KEYone so it's not a question of usability, but one of style. Very, very tempted to pull the trigger....

More intel. PRD-63736-004 is for the UK variant of the -5. So here's what I'm guessing is the regional breakdown for the bronze dual SIM KEYone based on the info pieced together so far:

    PRD-63736-002 - China
    PRD-63736-004 - UK
PRD-63736-006 - Middle East (Arabic keyboard)
PRD-63736-008 - ??? maybe Germany with AZERTY keyboard?

So I went and pulled the trigger (again)! My pros and cons list was getting too long so I enlisted the advice of a trusted source: my 8 and 11 year old girls. They said "If you really want it, just get it, Daddy!" Gotta love kids!

I'm not a master of the PRD's but

AZERTY is France only. QWERTZ is Germany only. All the rest should be QWERTY only or QWERTY with the extra alphabets like Arabic, Russian

004 might end up being Global. It's slated for Hong Kong as well, as per BlackBerry Mobile themselves.

Also the Bronze Dual SIM variant passed by the FCC, FWIW. Strangely it is not certified as a CDMA/EV-DO device for the US, even though the hardware is there.

There are is dual cdma-gsm tech in the bbb100-5 dual sim keyone?

Where does it say that about the hardware? I don't see it at first glance in the contents of what you linked

Hardware-wise yes. The KEYone sold in China is also BBB100-5, and China Telecom uses CDMA BC0 just like Verizon. But the odd part is, it's being certified with the FCC as a GSM-only phone, so it could be soft-disabled. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

And with that being said... certifying with the FCC doesn't mean much, European versions have been certified with the FCC and were never sold, ever.

My bbb100-7 was not certified with the FCC so this is very interesting. If one could use that phone on cdma and gsm Stateside that phone would be a game changer.

What would be the specific PRD to get of the BBB100-5 dual cdma/gsm?

BBB100-7 won't be certified because it's Optiemus, not TCL, even if it was built by them.

There's regulatory PDFs for the BBB100-5 on BB Mobile's website: https://www.blackberrymobile.com/med...English-UK.pdf

    Mobile network radio specifications:

Are sellers of bbb100-5 on eBay misinformed for not listing 1x/EV-DO in the network specs? Or is there different numerous variants of the -5; where only one of which has that tech. ?

Never mind found an answer earlier in this thread... at least four variants someone posted. So based on the link you posted thurask, referencing the UK regulatory manual, looks like the uk prd-63736-004 has cdma too?

Usually they won't advertise because it's not readily usable, it's generally for roaming only. Especially on eBay, those selling to the US probably don't want to deal with returns stating they can't use it on Verizon or Sprint.

Problem is not that the hardware doesn't work, but these carriers whitelist devices, only to those that are sold by them. It's a little bit better but it still requires some sort of certification, so only having the radio does not necessarily mean you can register on it.

Right. I understand whitelisting. Was just curious about the hardware. So does every bbb100-5 have cdma then?
