Total speculation here, but I think it's function is that it adds a cool factor to the phone and no more. Like the light around the trackpad of Olde on legacy devices.

I have been using the device for some days and i think it's just an indication on when you can use the fingerprint scanner to enter the phone or enter certain settings.
For instance when i tap to wake. It starts blinking to let me know i can use fingerprint to enter.
Haven't seen this light. Any link to a video review with it?
I saw on two video in close-up the spacebar seems to have to small point on the left and right that gives light. I didn't see it in another video's but maybe it's there if it is dark to know where to press your finger.
Exactly this. An indication to let you know to use the fingerprint scanner. Also lights up if you use something like the Password Keeper app that needs your fingerprint to unlock.
Quite subtle and cool at the same time. Definitely better than a pop or message on screen.
This is what it is.
If you wake up your phone by double tap on screen, the keyboard lights up and the Spacebar suggests you can use fingerprint using those two small lights that you may have seen.
I think Mr Mobile covered it back from MWC video as well.
there are different finger print scanner, BB one might be optical, that need sort of light or IR to scan your finger and match the pattern. depend upon the light (source) and sensor (scanner), you might see some of that...https://www.quora.com/How-does-a-fin...n-a-smartphone just a guess.
