The BlackBerry Mercury runs on Android 7.0 Nougat, and is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor (which Rquandt says is the SD625), clocked at 2.02 GHz. The Soc comes with an Adreno 506 GPU,
The device has 3GB of RAM, and managed to score 913 points in the Single-Core score, and 5047 points in the Multi-Core score.
So how close does that come to a confirmation? I just ordered a One Plus 3 which I am totally willing to return but I need a sign that it is coming within 2016. I have an old phone but I ****ed it up with the ios 10 update and I can't go without proper Whatsapp for 1 month.
I would also be happy with a software update and a much improved android runtime so that Whatsapp for Android is working fine

It's a confirmation that a device exists, but it's not a confirmation it will come out, or that it will be soon. We know there are prototype out there, Alex Thurber said it himself, and this could be one for all we know.
Though, I don't know if it's easy to change a CPU on the fly if they would decide to do so. I guess, according to this, we can expect a mid-range phone with an affordable price, probably meant to replace pkb fleet with companies. I'm okay with that, the pkb changes it all for me, I would not buy a glass slab if I have another choice.

You can use the android version just fine even with the current ART
And yes, it should have 16GB of RAM and an octacore CPU at 4.5Ghz per core because everyday I wish to render high poly 3D scenes and animations using my phone, but alas I can't, which makes me sad...

No, no, this is for the keyboard-above-all-else crowd. They don't care.
I think SD652 would be better. But pkb phones focus is on text so better SoC even though I would want it is not that important. SD625 is pretty decent too would work smooth.
SD625 is the most optimized CPU from Qualcom this year. Do some research and you will know. Moto Z play has 8-10 hours SOT, and very good in performance compares to flagship phones. I will be very happy if Mercury has this battery life.

No, no. This is the "we are not shallow enough to play the spec war games" crowd. I do care, as long as it's fast enough to do everything I want it to do, I don't give a rat's butt how it compares to the phone some random guy next to me is using.
So please tell me, you think this CPU and 3GB of RAM means that this phone will be laggy and hard to use? That's all I care about, where it stands in the hierarchy of phone stats is pointless and I'll leave that for people with low-self-esteem that needs something to brag about...

If anything Mercury is wee bit faster. Review says Moto Z Play performance in daily use is "flagship-like". I was worried initially but now I'm confident it's the right SOC. Battery life is much more important than raw performance in the Mercury's market.
