The BlackBerry calendar (Gmail account) seems to have a default meeting duration of 60 minutes. I'd like to change this to 45 minutes as the default.

I've tried but cannot find how to do this.

Do you mean default meeting reminder? If so, just open Calendar and scroll down until you find Default Meeting Reminder and change the time.
There doesn't seem to a default meeting/ event duration though. That is determined when you create the event and give a start and end time in the BlackBerry calendar. Otherwise, there is a setting within Google Calendar for default event length.

    I meant duration not reminder.

I tried the Gmail calendar settings on the computer for the duration but the choices don't include 45 minutes. Just 30 or 60 minutes as default options.

not sure. I'd really like good tutorials (more than just overviews but some tips and in depth instructions) on contacts and calendar apps for BlackBerry calendar..

I have the same problem. On Blackberry Classic with BB10 you could change the default meeting duration to 15 minutes which is my desired default. I do real estate and always do short back to back to back showings. A short default duration is important so all of my appointments do not end up conflicting with one another.
