I repaired a cracked screen on my son's friends Tab A Samsung tablet last week. (Easy repair) Her tablet was/is producing hazed, unclear images as well from the main sensor. In the process of having the back of the device removed I snapped a couple photos and they were clear. In her situation it was/is not the actual camera module itself but the camera lens cover (scratched to heck) embedded into the rear cover of the tablet. I am now looking for a new rear cover or simply that protective lens cover that embeds into the rear cover.

Even if this is off topic: I totally agree, the main camera of the Priv is much better than the camera of the K1 - the K1 camera is just acceptable for a good snapshot.

I've never really had any complaints w/ main or front KEYᵒⁿᵉ cams, tho I've noticed that it's possible to get quite a difference depending on exactly where the focus is. I took a couple pics in our living room trying to have it focus on our moving toddler, but the 2 shots looked to me to have come from different devices.

Disagree completely. The Priv camera was average at best. The K1 camera isn't fantastic but it's very good.

I finally had the new camera module fitted to my Keyone today. The difference is hard to describe!! I'll try to upload a couple of photos tomorrow to demonstrate this.

Hopefully that's a good thing! Curious how the install process itself went. We got our replacement modules recently and i'm having a doozy of a time trying to remove the top housing from the phone.

I didn't do it myself. My favorite repair shop opened up again, and they did the work. Didn't take more than 15-20 minutes.

The repair seems to have been a success! Still not as good as the S7 Edge camera but a marked improvement over the faulty camera module I took out of my Keyone. Thanks, everyone! I'll test outdoors soon too.

That so? Wow...that hasn't been my experience at all. Do you mean in terms of specs? I thought the Priv was the nicest rear camera.

But I'll try whatnow's suggestion. Hopefully it's just dirty and I can clean it out.

Yes. Especially if the image is blurry. Pop the cover off and clean it with a Q-tip.

I find my BE KeyOne everybit as good as my S9 was in shots except for very low light which I hardly ever shoot in.

Do you have any indoors? I haven't really put it through the paces yet and it is pretty foggy/overcast where I am, plus of course above is an indoor shot. I'll try more outdoor shots when we actually get a clear day in NL, but the indoor shot, while still a bit grainy, is a marked improvement over the original set I posted at the beginning of the thread.

Thanks! Quite vibrant. I do see that night mode often kicks in when I'm inside and it's been quite overcast lately. By July, we should have a sunny day or two with more natural light coming inside. If something's not clear then, I'll know the replacement module is also faulty or needs a cleaning or something (though I was careful to not touch the lens at all when I installed it.) Thanks for sharing these!

I'm in the same boat and, since I'm in Oakland and you seem local to Muir Woods, I wonder if you had your camera replaced at a shop and, if so, and, if you don't mind saying, which one and, if you don't mind saying, how much did the shop charge? I've located the camera and back at https://www.parts4repair.com/blackbe...a-replacement/ but, after looking at a YT teardown video, I'm afraid replacing the camera myself might be biting off more that I can chew. Thanks!

Hey there local Nor Cal BlackBerry user. My BE KeyOne has the original camera module. (no issues since purchase in Jan '19) Sorry I cannot be of more assistance. I would recommend Googling a good local repair shop there in Oak town and any worth a darn should be able to assist you with the replacement.

Boon usually has great recommendations for places to source parts as well and will hopefully chime in. (Might be a good idea to order a new battery at the same time since it will be accessible when repairing your camera module)

I've got a couple of calls in. Already, my battery swelled and I replaced that + back. That exercise led to the need to replace the camera module. See https://forums.crackberry.com/blackb.../#post13580186 However, I knocked the lens cover off, so I added a back to the list. Just now, I thought to switch the SIM to my Key2 for the interim and taking off the stiff Seidio case led to the KeyONE screen getting popped loose for the first time since I bought it on October 18, 2017... Looks like conite really wants me to use my Key2

Good luck! I always thought the KEYone's camera was better than the Key2's... but both are terrible compared to anything more "modern"... My Pixel 4a's camera is so amazing... $8 camera module and $1B worth of software engineering haha

Thanks! KeyONE on the shelf for now; too many toys and deferred maintenance fantasies. It's Key2 for now, just got a security update, and waiting on my Kickstarter Titan Pocket.
