Please find debug apk here and let me know what issues you may and probably will encounter. I have only tested that you can successfully enable the test mode. Thanks in advance.

    **update 11/1
I have removed debug app and attached a version with no crash/debug messages. Functionality will most likely be limited but it will help you identify (and be able to download updates so far as I can tell) for other variants. Installing with this app will probably not work. THIS IS A TEST so beware of the dragons.

The new updates app broke the advanced mode. If you weren't using that to get updates, you shouldn't need this. It's just a version of the firmware OTA update app.

Thanks for posting this link. Are you able to share or PM the password for the Advanced mode?

In theory, could I use this to spoof OTA from AAP638 to AAP683 using a BBB100-1?

If there's an AAP638 to AAP683 OTA file, but there probably won't be.

Using autoloader is there a way to move from 638 to 683 without wipe as previously done?

If you remove the lines that run a wipe (fastboot oem securewipe) and erase the user partition (fastboot flash userdata) from the flasher script file.

You don't need to. Your version of the update app still has that functionality.

Huh? So once I eventually receive the October update and install it, the updates app will then be broken? I'm confused.

No. Nothing wrong with the update app. There is a test mode that we are using to download updates meant for other models. That test mode is not available on the Oct patch level, hence the need for the hack provided by the OP.

okay thanks. man all I want right now is the October update on my keyone. why is the UK always the last, or one of the last, countries to receive updates? I had to install the September update using an autoloader because I still hadn't received the September update by the beginning of this month!

I've installed this Updatesold so I can fota test again next month when the November update is released; however I'd also like to know what take heap dump and take thread dump mean? If this is the old updates app, why are there these options? + what is profiling? Thanks

I'll post a version without those messages when I'm confident there's a working version.

@jcrutchvt2010 Is that a copy of the October updater with the showToast() line added back? I'm not sure this will work as I think the Updater needs to write the downloaded update to a place a normal app can't reach. So you'd need root or use the same package id (and developer signature) as the original Updates app.

No this is a modified version of the app from the September update. I was thinking the same thing as you since it saves updates to the root folder. I was, however, able to download 2 emulated OTA updates successfully. As far as actually applying an update, that remains to be seen. If there is someone out there that has an actual OTA to be done and can use this app's test mode to try it, that would be beneficial. Thanks!

since you are on september, you dont need this apk. this apk is only meant for the people that are on October now. the october update turned off the test mode in the updates apk. so if you are running september, you can just get into the test mode and force the update to october. make sense?

How does one go about finding said lines, which program do I need?

I'm sure someone with more specific info will chime in but if you look for those two phrases (fastboot.....), you'll find the lines.

Notepad, really. Open flashall.bat (Windows) or flashall.sh (not Windows), remove those two lines, save, and run.

They'll look like this, but specifics vary depending on the platform:

    %BIN%\fastboot.exe oem securewipe
    %BIN%\%FASTBOOT% flash userdata %IMG%\userdata.img
