- So as per 'rumours' BlackBerry will launch mid to high range all touch and a keyboard phone. And the all touch is supposedly going to be the Alcatel 950.
I think both the phones should have absolutely same internals except the screen of course. I think this will give them a better economies of scale.
Also the price of the all touch should be $399 and the keyboard one should be $449. The specs of the Alcatel 950 at that price, a good battery and camera will sell reasonably well.
Also like many are saying on this forum, BlackBerry should launch the keyboard phone before the all touch .

- Because we just don't have enough all-touch Androids to pick from. Thank goodness BB is giving us two in a row. What would we do otherwise if we wanted an all-touch Android? *phew*

The Dtek50 didn't interest me. The "Argon" does for now (waiting to see if it gets an RGB LED - the last detail left to know about that we used to not have to worry about).
Physical keyboards don't interest me, and there are many here who feel the same. But, I also know there are many that only want the PKB.
I personally believe that BlackBerry should release both form factors at the same time. Stop this staggering of styles when one never takes from the other anyway. People are going to buy one or the other regardless of when they are released. As it is, when they wait months between style releases, you only alienate the people who prefer the other one. They aren't going to buy what they don't want.
Although, there are those who buy every phone BlackBerry releases... no matter what. More power to them.

It really would matter what device BlackBerry released (or is releasing) . This bunch will continue to find the negativity in it.08-29-16 04:22 PMLike 0 -

Even I don't see the point the point in releasing two touch phones one after the other. Also don't see the point of not releasing the pkb phone until 2017. It should be their next phone!

Z30STA100-2/10.3.2.287608-29-16 08:24 PMLike 0 - If BlackBerry is able to have decent specs on the pkb phone, and a software that matches with it that isn't buggy. And does not over price the phone (not even a little) keyboards could come back big time for BlackBerry and the overall market in general
Z30STA100-2/10.3.2.287608-29-16 09:17 PMLike 0 - I respectfully disagree. Screen space is king and will continue to dominate market for years to come. (The proof is popularity of Apple and Samsung ). I would wish in an ideal world blackberry would just make an affordable version of the note 7 in different sizes with top specs and match nexus on OS updates (nougat etc..)

Granted not in the same numbers of first iPhones, and then the black boring slabs of Android and now Blandroid.08-30-16 09:43 AMLike 0 - They should just stop making pkb phones because the people who want them are a minority. While we're at it, maybe we should get rid of every car brand and type that doesn't sell well and only keep the top few selling brands. Same with types of cars, why do we need small cars, medium cars, large cars, cars with 2 doors, 4 doors, 5 doors, pick-up trucks, SUV's, CUV's, minivans, full-size vans, etc? We should just have 2 or 3 brands and they should only produce pickup trucks and 4-door sedans. That should fit the needs of the majority...

Posted without the aid of AutoCorrect with my physical keyboard via CB1008-30-16 01:42 PMLike 0 - I see your point but many are saying that the keyboard android will revive blackberry. I just don't see it. I agree they should make one but it shouldn't be priority over argon. In best scenario they should launch both at same time. I'm just very curious to know the actual number of keyboard clients in the world.
Posted without the aid of AutoCorrect with my physical keyboard via CB1008-30-16 02:08 PMLike 0 - I don't work for BB and have no stake in them. I don't care if it "revives" them or not. I just advocate having choices. And I think most people do not believe that this one aspect alone will make or break the company, but that if they are the only one that offers that choice without any other short-comings or sacrifices that it could benefit BB. Might not be like a saving grace, but there are some people, albeit a minority, who want it. Sales are sales. Back when BB was top dog, they were only the best selling smartphone brand while dumbphones still dominated the market. So actually BB was selling phones in the hundreds of thousands and still made a profit where now they are selling them in the millions (low millions unfortunately) and losing money. It's all about how you scale the company. If they release the pkb device and plan to only sell a small amount of it, instead of building up a stockpile of millions of phones that may never sell, they won't lose money over it. At least not in theory, not sure how things have changed in that regard...

Ten years ago BlackBerry was KING, and they were selling millions... shipped almost 4 million in 2005 (fiscal 2006). Have no idea when last they were selling only 100's of thousands a year, but bet they still had "venture capital" funding them.
I hope that all touch users finally get their long awaited flagship all touch, and I hope PKB users get one last chance at a "modern" PKB device. Sadly the Passport is two years old now and the Classic is almost four based on it's hardware....08-30-16 02:37 PMLike 0 - Scale the company.... don't think they could scale it much smaller than having someone else do the OS and someone else do the hardware....

And I remember reading an article talking about BB when they were still profitable and was doing it selling fewer phones than they were just a few years ago..

Hopefully, the DTEK50 does well, and helps them grow their sales and shares out a bit.08-30-16 04:41 PMLike 0 - Actually, you kind of contradict yourself there. I don't know if you intentionally did this, but you kind of pointed out that it's mainly only Samsung and Apple. This is significant because Samsung is only one of many companies making all-touch Android devices, yet if you really look at it, only Samsung is making big sales, not the rest. There are several reasons why Samsung and Apple are dominating, and it's not solely because of a feature that every other phone maker also have...

As you enter the store, you see the iPhone "Island" closest to the aisle. It has it's own space apart from the other 'riff raff', and the phones are fully charged and working.
As you make your way to the back of the store you already see the Apple 'Lighthouse' Monolith beckoning you with a garden of iPads, Macbook Pros, iMacs and a guy in an Apple shirt ready and willing to help you. If you pivot 180 degrees and look up, you see the Samsung area across the path. And if memory serves, there's also a floating Samsung phone area placed strategically.08-30-16 04:46 PMLike 0
