wow, I didn't know this was built in either! Sadly, since my personal device is configured to access my work email on Office365, the administrator has been able to disable support for face recognition.

Do you use your work email account on your device? If so, that's probably why. The company can enforce some security guidelines on your device when you connect to Exchange. Same for me since I've added my work account.
Yep have my work one added. Did you find a way around it?

Finally got around to setting it up face detection and it was a snap to set up. Indeed it does work but it's convoluted in that you have to tap the screen twice and then swipe up to unlock. Fingerprint unlocking is so much easier in the end.

Yeah pretty much as everyone else has stated, I set up my face (and when I say set it up, I spent a good 5 minutes getting all the different angles and lighting!) but it "unlocks" your phone as in removes your password as long as it can see your face. You still have to swipe up or double tap to actually get into the phone, in which case I could have just used my thumb print anyway.

So I removed my face, as I read photos also work. May have thought about keeping the feature if it worked like the Note 7 where it unlocks and opens your phone.

It is much as it uses the camera does this thing consume battery while it's waiting to look at your face?

Had my Black Edition BlackBerry Key One since January of this year. Never knew the device had facial recognition capabilities. Don't recall it asking me to set up like my S9 did initially. Cool.

I bought a 10 month old phone in January. The Black Edition 4GB, 64GB North American device was released in March '18 in US. I had a Amazon gift card and got it brand new for 242. A superlative value on an excellent PKB phone. 😎 Functions and operates very well in Oreo with 2 day battery life.

It's built in, go to settings, security and then smart lock. The option for face recognition is there. I'll be trying it out later.
It used to be there but it's no longer there. The finger print sensor also does seem to work any more
    Can you help please?

Try a factory reset. If the options still aren't there, you have a hardware fault.

Was kind of a big deal when they brought it to market.... but it's not a very secure implementation (simple picture will work), so it became less of a thing. And TCL and many OEMs, including Google dropped it on later devices. Samsung has it in their higher end devices, but they are using the right hardware to support it. Google admitted they felt is wasn't worth the hardware needed for the Pixel 5 - tradeoff for other premium features they built into it.
