Does anyone run any adblocker app on their keyone? I tried using adblock plus and its isn't working! I'm not sure why its not working as it says.. wondering if it got to do with the device itself!

Doesn't AdBlock Plus need root permissions to work?
If this is for browsing, you could use Opera Browser or something similar that has a blocker built in.

They say even with Root it works, just that we need to manually configure the proxy in wifi settings. I've done that.. but still its not effective!

I use adblock plus with no issues. I think a lot of it has to do with the choice of websites you may or may not frequent.

Firefox Focus is a great alternative.

Then are you using wi-fi (maybe solely)? If it's still riding using your carriers data connection, it will be a no go.

Even with my WIFI on, it doesnt detect any traffic on the localhost port! I can still see add on apps when I'm on wifi

Even on WiFi!? Could it be!? The browser has ad lock overrides built in!?

I use chrome and the funny thing it the adp notification keeps stating waiting for traffic on local port.. even after I've manually setup the localhost and port.

Check out dns66 and f-droid. I haven't tried this yet I just switched from BB10 but this most likely the best route to go with unrooted phones

You need to google fdroid and install the apk. then dns66 is available through their app store

I should add that dns66 should block ads across the phone

also if you want to get rid of youtube ads look for an app called ogtube

I set up my own DNS on my NAS. I expose the port to the innerweb and use that for all the devices I want add free. The DNS application is called pi-hole. It pulls down a list of known advertising domains and blocks the device from loading the add by directing the request back to a blank internal Web page. works a treat! This is an advanced solution, however.

I have used both Adguard and DNS66/F-Droid. Both work fine without root. DNS work to block ads across the phone as previously mentioned. Both are good free non-root ad blockers

Based on the recommendation I went ahead and installed DNS66/F-Droid. It looks promising for now!

I use a VPN service that has ad-blocking built-in as an option within the company's Android app. I would say that it blocks a lot of the banner ads within Android apps (there is a little item where the ad should appear on the app). It doesn't block out the "pop-up" ads that some Android applications use.
