Seems a bad deal to me - all you are really doing is giving money to some guy who will then try and source an international model for you.

You'd have no warranty or recourse.

I wouldn't do it. The seller makes sure there is no warranty and you are dumping down a thousend bucks, draw a bad stick and receive a faulty unit. Broken mic, broken speaker, maybe a bad screen or a bad keyboard. Then what? Good luck settling the issue there.
I thought US launch would be scheduled for end of May, isn't it? I'd rather wait those three weeks and get the phone not only at a reasonable price but also with standard warranty coverage.

Only a selfish spoiled child would want one SO badly he'd do that deal.

So yes, wait a few weeks and get it for half that price--or wait a couple months and save probably even another $150.

This looks an awful lot like the scams that were going on a few weeks ago with the Nintendo Switch. I got caught up in one myself (that looked pretty legit) and Amazon refunded my money. (I did get a Switch by ordering from Amazon.co.uk--they were the seller and they delivered to me in the US--but I wouldn't do this with the KeyOne.)

$1000 for a device that may not be optimized for your local radio bands with no warranty today or almost 1/2 the price with full warranty and designed for your country's bands in two weeks.

Only you can decide on the value of two weeks' extra time with the KEYone, but it would be an easy decision for me!

When the phone becomes available, you're stuck with a device that you have had a few weeks earlier than everyone else and you're out several hundred dollars more than what everyone else is paying. I guess people do it though, or this wouldn't happen.

It just depends on the buyer's perspective on the relative value of money and time.

I speculate, from observing this, that more than just a few KEYones were scooped up by opportunists who are looking to turn a hefty profit. This may well have also contributed to the original stores carrying them being out of stock since there was a limited supply in the first place. While the KEYones are temporarily out of stock at the locations such as Selfridge etc. these opportunists are grabbing the opportunity to make some fast money.

^ emotions are high this close to the release. Now same seller does claim to have a us warranty version as well - when hitting the color selection. As you can see, they have 2 versions for sale.

We have seen this happen even with iphones - on release day those who are willing to pay 1500 for a 750 device to have it now do pay. Nothing againts the seller, just free market at work since BBMobiles info is scarse. We still dont carrier info, where its sold, pre order with may 31st delivery or just order 31st? Or I may be behind latest news.

It's called the free market. Someone has something you want and you pay a premium for it. Not sure what part makes you a selfish child.
