Unlike the Key2, I hope the LE will have Wi-Fi calling enabled to use on Rogers..

The carrier is the one who determines if those advanced features are enabled. The phones certainly have the capability. The carrier just has to allow it. And some just won't.

Or not. The Key2 was working on T-Mo USA, then the next "patch" to Key2 killed it with BBMo saying they did it and on purpose. Motion and KeyOne still work just fine on T-Mo.

It's pretty clear BBMo is having some issues with OREO.

Are they problems caused by a Google patch?
Are they problems from BlackBerry tinkering?
Are they 3rd Party software / driver solutions that don't mix well?
Are they BBMo's own portion of the software that has cause it?

Evolve was suppose to have launched last month... and it's still MIA. (but not a BBMo product)
KEY2LE was suppose to have been available in September... (but it's pretty common to wait for the last possible day).

My guess is you don't want to buy it on day one.

I'm thinking of getting the LE and would very much like to have WiFi calling as my old farmhouse has aluminum siding that kills most signals.

Never got that on my Priv (at&t)

It did work on TMO but the last update removed it. Not just a disable, but scrub it from settings completely. I'm sure it will come back when TCL gets around to it

Wouldn't this be a software issue that fixed by BBMo or TMo/ATT?

It has to be fixed by BBMO it's not the carriers. Once blackberry mobile adds it back in, then it's up to the carrier to allow (TMO) or not allow (ATT) it.

BBMo intentionally removed it from other units in their lineup previously that had it available (via software update), so I would not hold out for this *ever* being available on the Key2LE.

While on AT&T it won't matter (they ONLY whitelist handsets they sell directly) on Verizon (since they whitelisted the unit) and T-Mobile (which doesn't whitelist in the first place) it does. This is a flat-out "no buy, no way" thing for me; this isn't the carrier being nasty, it's BBMo intentionally deciding to cripple the unit by removing a feature it is capable of and the carrier I use supports.

I've emailed with BBMo on this and they confirmed they removed it by return email, so it's not a question of whether the carriers blocked it or similar -- they've admitted they intentionally broke it in the firmware load on the device. Since you can't get root (and thus put it back, which would otherwise be possible) on BBMo devices either they change their mind or I simply never buy another device they make.

this is exactly why I returned the Key2 and Key2 LE.

wifi calling is a must for me and without it the phone is useless. too bad. Did they ever tell you why they removed it??

    No.

I replied to their email in which they stated they removed it asking for the reason they made the change but received no reply to that inquiry. It doesn't really matter, and while the conspiracy theorists here have repeatedly claimed the carriers "pressured" for the change such a claim is utterly without evidence -- and plenty of contrary evidence exists (e.g. the PH-1, which had it enabled at release and still does through over a dozen updates, including to and beyond Android 9, yet it is an unbranded, non-carrier specific device and in fact has Verizon CDMA support in it!)
