Hi,
I know some blackberry models will cease being able to function properly in January, 2022.
Does this affect the Key2LE and the Key2?
Thank you!

Lots of threads on this.
BlackBerry shutdown won't affect Android devices, however the impending 3G shutdown certainly will.
My carrier is Tmobile for my Key2LE. It runs 4G....I think...just noticing the 4G is greyed out rn...idk why.
I ask because I think this phone may be on the fritz and I may go for a Key2 with 64gig as a replacement.
(I have spent < $1,000 on smartphones during my lifetime and I am 39 yo)
I wouldn't invest in a non-5G phone if you are looking to keep the device for a few years.
And don't confuse 4G/LTE with VoLTE.
That sounds like good advice. I guess this is the end of the line for BlackBerry?
It would appear. The last BlackBerry-branded device is 3 years old.
You can get the decent Nokia G300 5G phone with 2 OS updates and 3 years of security patches for $199 come Oct 19th.
Yeah, idk. The main reason I go with BlackBerry is because they pretty much never break and obviously I love the keyboard.
Nokia G300 dimensions:
169.4 x 78.4 x 9.3 mm (6.67 x 3.09 x 0.37 in)
Yikes
6.5" screen is pretty typical (and preferred) these days.
Pretty terrible.
As @idssteve would rightfully say, our hands haven't grown over the last decade.
One handed reachability (and ergonomics altogether) are simply non-existent on a monstrous slab like that.
Anything from Nokia under 150mm tall? Or is even that, too much to ask..
Android 12 has a one-handed mode where all controls can be brought down to the bottom half of the screen.
Right, which makes the idea of that gigantic mess ridiculous.
Only the Pixel 4a, 5, S10e and iPhone 12/13 Minis seem to be reasonably sized.
...for you and perhaps a handful of others.
It would seem Google's data is leading them to larger screens again.
That's why Apple will ditch the Mini next year.
Which do you feel is the better phone? G300 or the 5A. As stated in another thread. I dont wont to spend big bucks for a phone I am not in love with. Battery life would be my 1st priority
I would get the Pixel 5a in a heartbeat. I only brought up the $200 G300 to show you could still get a decent 5G device without breaking the bank.
If you're on a tight budget, I have no problem recommending the G300 though.
Why did they keep it around this year if the 12M sold horribly?
You'd still need deep pockets for a G300... for the reason stated above
Apple sets up the production plan for any next generation iPhone at least 9 months before its release.
The 12 Mini poor sales numbers were obvious after two quarters of its release. This is why they didn't have enough time to make any products' design or production alterations to the 13 series. But, the mini is definitely dead. People are no longer want a compact phone. These devices are dying just like the PK phones, but in a slower rate.
The occasional SE release handles the small phone crowd just fine IMO
The 12 and 13 Mini are years ahead of the 8 (rebadged as "SE") in terms of tech advancements.
Smaller than "SE", with bigger screen and OLED. And bigger battery.
Either way, Apple didn’t sell enough of them for their definition of success….
At that prices, the mini are too expensive comparing to the older brothers 12 and 13.
But how far ahead of the 5G SE 3 that is coming in the spring (as rumors suggest)?
I really don't know the imperative with the SE.... small or just cheap?
For me both. I got great deals on the 4-5 I bought and they are just the right size for my parents and my specific use/need for small phones
