Why stack up product in warehouses when you know they aren't going anywhere for some time?09-28-18 07:36 AMLike 0 - BBOS was crazy with the granular control it gave over personalizing and customizing notifications. I miss that feature also. I use sounds now to notify my family contacts for health emergencies. But it means I always have to have the sound turned on, which is awkward sometimes in staff meetings.09-28-18 11:04 AMLike 0
- At best they're doing some: the Hub suite + keyboard are theirs, and if you take their word for it they do some low level kernel work and manage getting the operating system certified to work with the bootloader. But everything else is TCL, including distribution.09-28-18 12:10 PMLike 0

Right, which is different from the bill of goods we were sold when the licensing deal was announced. BlackBerry said they were doing the software to dissuade concerns about security with a Chinese licensee. Now half the stock apps on my phone are TCL.09-28-18 01:30 PMLike 0 - Do you have proof that the delay was Verizon's fault?

I gotta agree, silent operation and only LED colors is how I roll nights and weekends, and allows me to only touch it when I see my green light.
Cheers

Amazon or best buy might be the best bet, or if you're close enough buy outright from Canadian provider. The exchange rate might make it work out cheaper too.

(Now I'll patiently wait for someone to tell me "they meant available for purchase beginning next month, they never said shipping next month, and it popped up randomly on Amazon on September 29th so another promise kept by our leaders at BlackBerry™ Mobile™!" )spazzmeister likes this.10-01-18 03:05 AMLike 1 - For the record, this was another release date promise broken. Recently, on a Sunday when I only carried my KEYone, I received an unexpected email from a prospect who was in the US for a few days suggesting times for a meeting I'd been trying to schedule for months. But, because the KEYone doesn't rotate LED colors for unread messages in the HUB, I missed the blue LED that distinguishes that email account, and only saw the yellow one for my personal email.
As a result, by the time I noticed the message an hour and a half later, the meeting time I had been offered was no longer available, and now I have to wait a few months until that prospect returns to the US. As a result, by the regression analysis we use, the likelihood of closing that $500K contract went from about 75% to less than 50% for a net loss of $125K in revenue and $45K in profit.
That's the real world business cost of trying to use the KEYone as my primary phone on a lazy Sunday. Since I wasn't expecting the email, the only alternative would be to turn on the screen and scan my email every 10 minutes during all my waking hours!
But I am curious to know how will having a laptop/tablet or whatever it is that you intend to switch take care of the problem?
The use case scenario that you just described, how would a laptop/tablet/handled not let that happen?10-01-18 05:59 AMLike 0 - I totally agree with the LED color not rotating part.

What I imagine is that I will hire a service to triage email communications for me, similar to what a call service does for physicians. Then I'll always have the laptop with me to respond to the most urgent items and respond to the others in batches. It will be more expensive and less personal, but it will be reliable and sustainable.
I'll probably always keep a mobile phone nearby (likely my KEYone, which I really like) , but I just can't expect Android to perform like a BBOS or BB10 device for written communications. Android's soul is fundamentally different.

Synonyms for promise are oath, pledge, and vow.
This is not the language that was used, and by no means the intent.
And BTW, there is a lot more at stake to when GoT airs than anything BBMo has, or ever will, do - financially, and in about every other way one can imagine.10-01-18 12:31 PMLike 0 - Same thing.

If you go to a conference that is said to begin at 9 am and it doesn't start until 2 pm, is that a broken promise?10-01-18 03:26 PMLike 0 -
Listen, at this point there are no "companies" making plans or budgets about BBMo devices. And while a few fans might be discouraged that coming in September ended up preorders on like the last day work day of the month, with delivery not until a few week later. It's not like that is a big shock.
Note saying that's a way to run a business... but it is their way.10-01-18 03:53 PMLike 0 - Well if you go to that conference 10 time and all 10 time it does start at 2PM....

The series earns over a billion dollars a year for its owners, and incredible amounts for ancillary businesses.
A small smartphone OEM is utterly inconsequential compared.

In any event, if BBMo had said it will be available at 2:00pm next Tuesday, then that's one thing. Be "available in some markets next month" is another.Last edited by conite; 10-01-18 at 04:30 PM.
10-01-18 04:15 PMLike 0 - Nobody, and I really mean NOBODY, is making plans and budgeting decisions about specific smartphone devices in 2018. Other than ensuring compatibility with an enterprise's MDM and security model, 99% of companies couldn't care less which specific phones their employees use.10-01-18 04:39 PMLike 0
