Hope this is of value for Verizon customers: I have a business account with Verizon.
I purchased a Key2 LE in November 2018 at Best Buy. Setting up texting with Verizon was tricky and visual voicemail never worked. Calls and texting ceased to work last week. After Verizon rep tried his best to get it working again Saturday he discovered he could still order a new Alcatel Key2 LE for new activation. He was confident the visual VM will work. I get it on Wednesday.
My Q10 finally got "sunsetted" by Verizon as well so I'm looking forward to a fresh start. I also have an iPhone 8 Plus which is a really high quality phone so long as I don't need to type on it.
New Key2 is $99 with a two year contract. For me it was fair. If the new BlackBerry 5G is worth a go next year my 8 Plus will get retired.
Hope this helps. Will follow up with status after I activate the new phone this week.

Let us know how the setting up of visual voicemail goes....

Is interesting to know Verizon still has some inventory left.

Does that mean the BlackBerry name can’t be legally used ?!?

Will do. Was pleasantly surprised they still had them available. We'll see how it works out

Thought it had a removable battery but I read too fast: it does not. Wishful thinking

The joke is that it's a BlackBerry Mobile device - not an Alcatel device.

No the Joke is it's a TCL device.

BBMo was a façade on top of the façade that was Alcatel.... but in the end it was the same company, same sales people.

I've seen other retailers refer to it in this way.... bet that most the contracts were made with Alcatel in the USA.

well its here: no issues. visual voicemail and texting work. I did zero transfers from backup and set it up as a new phone. going to keep it lean: no social media. Just Shopify and Shipstation to manage my site plus eBay and Amazon. Hub still crushes iOS and Outlook (in my opinion)

I will follow up if anything squirrely happens but so far it's living up to expectation!

By chance did they say how much it is without a 2-year contract?

I glanced at it on my rep's tablet. it was in the $400+ range. I rationalized on the two year deal that I could make it last and hedge my bets with the uncertainty of what the 5G model will or will not be. typing on the Key2 LE right now and while it's no Classic it still feels pretty good.

It is what it is. Hopefully this company in Texas can take things to a new level. Almost funny what some of us put up with to have a keyboard.

I swapped SIM cards so the Key2 LE is my daily driver. it stopped receiving text messages. had to get online chat with Verizon to refresh them so that it would work. no big deal but forgot I cannot swap SIM cards on a whim. Verizon has been unusually easy to work with this go around.

probably a gamble from a business standpoint, but if the new startup could release an updated Classic along with a rugged tactical edition I think it would be a huge hit.
the Classic CEO and the Classic Tactical. I wish I knew how to create a mockup. I think there's still enough alpha dogs in the USA that would snatch them up!

What they had to do to get texting working was add the CDMA-LESS feature to your account. You are now free to swap your SIM at will.
