I have 270 contacts in my Google account and it takes the Contacts app about 30-60 seconds to load every time I open it. Same goes with searching for a contact. The app is pretty much unusable. Same thing with the Phone app - extremely long delay to search for a contact or to see recent calls (actually I'm not sure the recent call list works at all).

I have tried a couple of different contact and phone apps but they have the same problem. Has anyone else experienced this?

270 contacts is nothing, and should have nothing to do with the delays.

Try clearing the app caches in those apps and HUB+ Services, and then do a 32 second reboot.
