The BBE100-2 was spotted on Geekbench. It has a SnapDragon 660 with 4GB of RAM.

What is this device? Is it possibly a KEY2 lite?

The second device listed is called "BlackBerry." It has a SnapDragon 660 as well, but 6GB of RAM. Is this what we're expecting to be the KEY2?

Two variants of the KEY² (BBE/BBF), with the "lite" version being the BBG ?

Proable going to be several "variants" of the Key2... different RAM, different Colors, different radios.

The BBG has been seen with a SD625, and is believed to the the K2 lite.

Given how variable all the devices under the BBB100 umbrella were (RAM, storage space, regional variants, single/dual SIM, carrier one-offs), I can't think of anything to separate BBE100 and BBF100.

Maybe more changes than just ram/storage/colour.

Other than CPU, what else is there? Maybe size?

Maybe, but depending on pricing and availability the worse model might be irrelevant.

It could be size, akin to the S9/S9+ or Pixel 2/Pixel 2 XL situation, but since we know they're both PKB devices that might complicate things.

If it's not already confusing enough....

Must be a disconnect between the ones that make these decisions, and the ones that have to support these variants with updates each month.

Although I would find it weird to force a screen size on a given desire for ram. Or vice versa.

But it's not uncommon for devices to have the same resolution yet different physical size?

That's how Samsung did it with the S8 and S9.

I'm thinking more along the lines of Galaxy Mega and Galaxy A-series back then. 4.7" vs 6.3", both 1080p.

If you look at the breakdowns on most phones... the display is the most costly component. Followed by the Chipset (generally), and then the Camera(s)... as generally most flagships have three now.

Battery is nothing really, and RAM really isn't that much. Storage memory can be costly if you go above the standard 32GB...

So with them pretty much locked in on the CPU, the Cameras and Display are two big ticket items that might be able to save $20 - $30 on. Retail that would make for a big difference.

From a marketing standpoint... show and have reviewed the dual camera setup with all the processing tricks (if the digital processor in the 660 can handle them) with a UHD AMOLED display. But for the price you use the "starting at" price of the base model... kinda like car manufacture do in their marketing and reviews.

That's what Samsung did with the S9. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
