I recently went on a trip to the states and got on the AT&T network (I'm with Fido in Canada).

When I was there I was able to use the pip feature on YouTube. As soon as I got back home the pip feature went away. As far as I know this has nothing to do with the carrier right? I even tried updating to the latest version of youtube but still can't manage to get back the pip.

Anyone else noticed this? Is there a way to force the pip? I checked in the YouTube settings under general and didn't see any toggle for it.

Greedy, dirty, profiteering YouTube Canada charges for the feature here with a subscription to their Premium Service! Outrageous if you ask me!

They charge that in every country except the USA.

Yes. The only ads it shows are the regular YouTube video ads that you also get in the official YouTube app and on the YT website. But the rest of the app is ad-free.

What I mean is do vids still get hijacked by ads or can you avoid them? I've noticed a huge upturn in ads this year since YT have pushed their premium service. It seems to be worse on mobile devices than desktop which is strange also.

I don't get ads on the BB10 native browser...but it's not like I do loads of YouTube either, just a vid once in a while.
