Will BlackBerry key 2 will get updates after August 2020. I recently bought BlackBerry key 2 and worried after August the phone won't work.

With or without updates, your phone will still work. The only updates released are security updates, which likely will not continue into August. But again, that does not mean your phone stops working.

My guess is that updates are already done. There have been no further postings or certifications in 2.5 months.

Like Bla1ze says though, phone will continue to work for years to come.

Wow, that would be kind of unacceptable if they were done now. Especially for the LE.

Everyone wanted an answer from TCL. They got it, and now TCL thinks they're off the hook - although, technically, they never promised anything regarding the KEY² and KEY² LE.

This is almost as bad as Optiemus KEY2's not getting anything after December 2018 (kind of like with their KEYone's in December 2017)

While I seriously doubt it would happen, I also wouldn't be surprised if AT&T somehow released at least on more update for their Keyone.

Considering that phone got more updates after all the other Keyones ended seems to suggest that, maybe, AT&T made a separate deal with BlackBerry for updates. Maybe even because they are still selling them. I just checked, and they are still offering it on their website.

Not understanding your meaning. Off-the-hook? Never promised anything? Were the K1, Motion and K2 not promised (committed to by Manufacturer TCL/BBMo) updates for 2 years? Did I miss something?

Got mine at Launch which means, updates should be provided until June/July 2020.

KEYᵒⁿᵉ and Motion had a 2 year commitment for patches, along with 1 letter upgrade.

They never actually indicated anything for the KEY² and KEY² LE - apart from a slide shown at an early private presentation.

Had things gone well, I'm sure the KEY²s would have received the same treatment as the 1st gen devices.

Hmmmm, not what I heard from a few Elite members here, in fact, I even remember one member pushing a 3 year commitment because of the Enterprise Program. Now I hear nothing was ever really committed to for the K2 and K2 LE?!? How odd!

I thought we covered this already.

I stated that I expected BBMo devices to follow the requirements of the Enterprise Recommended program and get 3 years of patches and 1 letter upgrade, despite the fact that BBMo never made that commitment directly.

I was more surprised that Google did not enforce participation rules, and kick them out.

Had BBMo remained a going, profitable concern, they likely would have adhered to the program rules.

I actually never saw any note regarding updates for any of the KEY² devices. They were probably careful NOT to write anything down as they were probably already on the bubble by summer of 2018.

Has it? Are there no contractual agreements left? There statement seemed to indicate ongoing support, to 2022 with security updates until 2020. Did we misread that?

No. They said they would clear sales channels in Aug 2020, and continue to provide technical support until Aug 2022.
