I just got one of the discounted India BBF100-6 phones. Very disappointed the updates stopped at 2018. I may return the phone if they have stopped altogether. Is there any hope?

Can you not use an autoloader? Not familiar with the Indian variant. Perhaps @conite can assist. Hope you can sort it out. Cheers,

Well. I remember the days of BBOS autoloader. If it means wiping data, and replacing it. That will get old quick. I am using the phone in the USA. Couldn't I just get another variant. I am not going to India, just got the phone from there.

If an autoloader will work, you have a "Wipe" and "No Wipe" option. No Wipe is like OTA. Just need to know if it can be used on your variant.

Most variants work everywhere. Which unlocked model has the best security updates. I will return this one and get one of those

Do you know the rationale behind that? Is it to de-google the phone?

The Indian devices are managed by Optiemus, the Indonesian device is managed by BB PT Merah Putih, and the Chinese devices are de-Googled. I'm not sure about the deal with Russia.

Does Optiemus really develops updates for it's Key2's or simply pushes the ones developed by BlackBerry? What I'm trying to say here is that stopping updates for a device which is not even a year old sounds really bad.

Optiemus purchases updates from BBMo, who would then load the update on BBMo's servers for distribution.

    It's a sub-licence agreement.

Didn't we establish that you had the Indian variant?

Where you bought the phone, and where you currently use the phone are both irrelevant. It's the PRD that matters.

For the record, ALL Motions, KEY²s, and KEY² LEs are unlocked.

I'm looking to get a dual-sim key2 but don't want to be stuck with this problem of Indian variant. is there a dual-sim that isn't bbf100-6 to look for? or what are my dual Sim but universally update-able options here?

Looking at the PRD, my k2 is not Indian but rather HK. Anyway, 100-6 have not been updated since early December which is pathetic.

There is something wrong. The HK variants got both January and March updates.

Please confirm your PRD and OS build.

As with the Aurora.... this licencing agreement allows the licencee the power to not buy updates and to diminish the brand in those markets.

I think BBMo has done a good job with how they have handled the brand (could have been a lot better - if they could have afford to invest more in marketing and production), but Optiemus has done a very poor job of updating devices. And BB PT Merah Putih, has pretty much let down any customers that were expecting all those "updates" that BlackBerry talked about. I wonder how the brand is really viewed there at this point...
