Doesn't matter how I do it, taking screen shots are a real chore on K2.

Same on most android devices. You can use Button Mapper or other similar apps to assign another key to do it (to test it I just assigned a long press of the 'recents' key)

No way to disable the super loud sound when taking a shot is there?

either put your phone on vibrate, or use a third party app such as Screenshot Touch (I haven't tested it but according to reviews it works without sound).

I use notable. Once you open it. It will stay in the notification tray at the top so whenever you want to get a screenshot pull down the tray and select it. Haven't figured out the sound yet.

I find it much easier with Notable - either include it on the top of the row of Settings in the Notificaton pull-down, or (what I do) is set up a Keyboard Shortcut (Notable > 'Capture & Annotate' shortcut) and when used with the Speed Key, works great!

In Notable it takes me three clicks/touches to take a screenshot plus taking the screenshot itself. And I have to switch night mode and sound off...

What's wrong with volume down + powerbutton?

First I assigned the currency key to drop down the notification bar then I opened the notable app. Each time I press the currency key the drop down notification tray at the top of the screen shows me the notable screen shot option. Easier than the volume and power key.

Lifesaver! I did not know that functionality existed on BlackBerry phones, thank. THAT is the simple solution I was looking for!

Haha, I was going to say my thumb fits perfectly to take a screen shot (using volume down and screen lock) one handed while holding my phone in my right hand.
