Just tap on the word. Boom!
Hey, what about me?
All the PKB functions should work whether you use them or not. If they don't, then that's lower quality.
The swipe up worked very well on the Key1. Now I don't miss
it on the LE, which I type better on.
Never accept mediocrity.
Yet, as a total package, I would take the KEY² keyboard over the LE keyboard in a heartbeat. It's bigger, has better sculpting, feels more premium in the frame, and has a consistently working swipe-back gesture. Is it perfect? Probably not. But it's the best, as a sum, there has ever been imo.
We can all sit around and demand a perfect 10 out of 10 in each of the 10 categories, but such a thing doesn't exist and never will.
I guess I have to repeat myself, again, as some here aren't comprehending/understanding what I'm talking about. Yes, the PRIV had other issues which I have previously acknowledged, and were prevalent on the PRIV. I am specifically talking about, and only talking about, the swiping of predicted words on the PRIV, which was "flawless," and on the KEY2 it is flawed/defective.
To mention the other flaws of the PRIV is not on topic with what I'm talking about so to mention these other flaws to make a defense of the flawed/defective KEY2 keyboard with the swiping of predicted words is irrelevant.

Not perfect, but not mediocre with a simple function that doesn't work either. The PKB choice on the LE or it's clunkier brother Key2 is subjective. I've tried both and preferred the light and stylish LE. And had a nice weekend away to use it with the money I saved to boot.
But it IS relevant.
In technology, like other things, you have to give up some things to get other things. When you pull on one thing, another moves too.
That's why you have to look at everything as a complete package and judge it on that.
Maybe in order to change the shape of the keys, or make the keyboard wider, they had to make changes that affected other things. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I always liked the Priv Keyboard. I liked it better than the KEYone. The edge above the keys getting in the way for many people was because of the OEM case that had the support band just under the screen. I went over to using a flip case and it solved that for me.
All that said, the KEY2 keyboard is even better.
PS: I always found swiping up the predicted words to be slow. So I got in the habit of just tapping on the words.
I found the LE to be a better pure typing keyboard as well. If it had the swipe gesture, than I would rank it above the KEY2's.
From an aesthetic standpoint, I prefer the framed look of the KEY2 pkb over the frets of the LE.
Oh heck, somebody please, please, please just make an Android Passport already!!!
Well, that's just a matter of preference. Nothing wrong with that. But the goldilocks device that will satisfy everyone will never exist.
Not a fluid experience after your device failed to recognize a swipe....but yes, that is an alternative.
I almost bought the LE when I had to replace my (bought used - started to have problems ) KEY2 right before a trip. Well, I got the KEY2 and don't regret it. It was a stretch but I needed the best on the trip. I noticed some keyboard differences between the two KEY2s. The first one had keys and a space bar that were a bit wobbly. The new one has none of those issues at all.
If someone handed me a KEY series device I'd be rating the PKB on how comfortable it would be to type only. And it wouldn't be as good as the 9930.
Having had every BlackBerry device since 2005, except the Passport, I'm not going to dispute that previous versions were more comfortable devices to type on in comparison to the KEY2.
I am overall very satisfied with the KEY2 as a current generation BlackBerry device... the specific exception however is the flawed/defective keyboard when typing and swiping of predicted words.

Did you ever use the Passport for an extended period of time? I'm not talking about tapping on it for a few minutes or hours. Even with the 3 row setup relying on it's VKB for the symbols blew away my 9900, which also happens to be my second favourite BlackBerry of all time!
Verizon never carried the Passport. Regardless, it's not a 99** keyboard. Everything since has caveats.
Same here. I didn’t think anything could match the 9900 but after a week with the Passport, I was wondering how I was ever able to survive without "work wide". Typing this right now on my SE and really hating the fact that I don't have billions to donate to BlackBerry to make an Android Passport!

It's funny. I like my SE, but I just can't crank up enough speed because of the huge thumb travel required.
That’s one small overall feature to consider of many features. Many people like myself, don’t care about the feature since we rarer if ever use it.
I hated the Passport for taking and making phone calls including putting and removing the Passport from either my front or back pocket. It was easier to dual carry my Classic and G2 back then over just the Passport let alone dual carry.
I actually dual carried my iPad Mini with Passport many times since both were so big it didn’t matter.
The Passport form factor alone made me not really want it. Although, I'm still very curious about trying it; BB10 and not being able to use it as a DD notwithstanding.
With the BB10 phaseout, I was being nostalgic last year to get an unlocked Passport SE to compare with OG I thought was common. When prices shot up, I shelved plan temporarily. Recently, I found out my AT&T Passport was an SE just carrier branded. I’m glad I saved the money because the nostalgia just wasn’t that strong.
Well, to each his own. I have actually met a couple of folks who don't like Ferrari's either. Go figure.
That is the craziest dual carry combo I've ever heard of. You must have really depleted Walmart's cargo pants inventory in 2014!

It was just the awkwardness form and size of the device. I ended up carrying Passport over the Classic for speed and storage upgrade. I would’ve preferred KEYone or Key2 size back then for Passport over the Classic but I get the naming of both related to size and shape. The size, form and shape of devices have evolved based on consumer demand. So have automobiles since now everyone drives SUVs instead of smaller coupes or sedans.
For you Chuck, and others, this is obviously a "small feature." However, there are many of us that feel having the ability to type and swipe predicted words efficiently is a feature we have been accustomed to, and feel we should be able to maintain that convenience. Unfortunately this is not the case with the KEY2 as it was on previous BlackBerry devices.
So for us this is a "big" feature and for you, or others, to expect us to accept it and not be disgruntled KEY2 owners is not acceptable in my opinion. Again, aside from this flaw/defect with the PKB I am exceedingly happy with my KEY2. If this issue didn't exist the KEY2 would be for me a perfect device.
