I learnt this from an italian member, Custerluca. I made a "fake" change on my keyboard . Specifically , I changed the language from spanish ( my language) to english. Then I did the apposite and changed the language back. All the Word Substitution list came back in.
I didn´t even have to reboot between the changes.
The bug Works this way for some reason: you have a Word substitution list and, from time to time , it is gone from the place it should be and goes to " personal diccionary" . If you change the keabord language to another language and, then you change it back to your language , the list on your personal dictionary moves to the Word substitution list back.. Ciao and thanks to you for having reaffirmed the solution. For my part, I have reported this bug to the bbbeta.centercode.com website three months ago but it has not yet been resolved. I hope someone in the BlackBerry can fix the bug in a short time!Solution for the word substitution list bug-bbbeta.png

They have plenty things to do, unfortunately. And it's also been clear that their team is not giant in count. I know how much time it may take to sort out even little bugs.

LiamQ also noted here that this particular word substitution keyboard module was written quite a wrong way, and it has to be made from scratch again.

Good that you found a solution that works for you, though. In the meanwhile, I stopped using it completely for it's unreliability. Miss it though!

That explains why I never had this issue! I constantly use two languages...

I've been living with my new Key2 for about two weeks. Very difficult transition from my Classic. I've been advised to "give it time" on another thread. As far as word substitution, I've had the same problem here as I always seem to have with menu driven setups. I forget how to get back to where I just was. I used Blackberry Content Transfer to move everything to my Key2. I found that my custome word substitution list came over, VERY Happy about that. Problem, they all came over with "use capitalization" set as the default. It has taken me days to finally go through the entire long list and set them all where they need to be. In the mean time, things that should have capitalized at the beginning of a sentence were not. The problem was, the list is LONG and I kept missing or skipping some when I was trying to set them all the way I needed them AND the list bounces back to the top (very annoying) every time you change one so you have to scroll way down to get back where you were.
As far as losing your substitution list, are your sure you weren't just forgetting where to look? It's buried under many layers and not where you would expect it to be. System>Language&Input>Keyboard Settings>Blackberry Keyboard>Prediction&Correction>Word Substitution>All Languages....

Hate to disappoint you, but all that work you put into checking and un-checking your capitalization will be erased once you restart your phone once or twice. All your entries will become checked by default. Which means you'll have to go thru and un-check them all over again. I've given up on this word substitution bug ever being fixed as it's been present since the Key1.

You were right. As of late yesterday they are all checked again. Learning to hate this thing. Too many stupid bugs I’m learning about. May put sim back in my Classic.

I've just given up on resetting the check boxes, at least my contractions will still work. The only downside is if your sentence begins with a contraction, it will be lowercase.
