Just a quick one. I’ve got t6e chance of getting a Key2 very cheaply. I had a Key1 and stupidly sold it. I’ve got a Pixel 3A XL at the moment, but still crave another Blackberry.

I know this isnt the forum for people trying to put me off, but will I be safe software wise for a year or so? I’ve currently got Android 10 and to be honest, can’t tell the difference.

    Regards Chris

You'll be fine. Unless your intentionally downloading sketchy APK files from unknown sources, you'll have nothing to worry about.

Updates end in four months... if they last that long.

Safe after that is open for a lot of different interpretations. But the bottom line is, it depends on what the "new" vulnerabilities are, and how exposed your usage is.

It depends on what you consider to be 'safe' really. Do you worry about every single Android exploit that you see in a headline or are you a rational consumer and realize that most of those things will never hit home? Provided you're not out there testing dodgy APK files or random weird apps, you should be 'safe'.

If you want it just get one to try out as a second phone. No point in being worried it's just a phone. I've just landed a blackberry priv and use that as my secondary device, doesn't worry me.
    Good luck.

If you get the read you should get updates through 4/21 with its April 2019 release date. At least that is my assumption.

No. It's 24 months from initial product launch (colour is irrelevant), so it ends in May or June of this year.

Oreo won't get updates beyond August anyway, so it can't go beyond that regardless.

TCL did promise an update to Pie at some point, so there's that. Have some faith!

I haven't seen anything at all.

Chinese New Year essentially shuts things down the last 2 weeks of Jan though.

So if TCL releases the Cobalt blue KEY2 at MWC, it will get three months of updates

Yes. Another reason it's pretty unlikely to happen.

Yeah, about that. Don't put any stock into anything TCL/BBMo "promises." I am still waiting for my Oreo update on my KEYone.

Anyone haggled for a decent price at MBK in Bangkok? As I am here on my annual February stay and my Key1 is broken and breaking, I am considering getting an APAC Key2 dual-SIM.

I haven't used Samsung GN 10P since I bought the key2 so for me it's worth buying. Just downside are software updates, anyway until my BB K2 can "hold the door" I want change it with other phone.

Also before you buy it consult this list. Don't buy indian version.

Also when you go to a meeting or some business staff you will need to talk about your phone

At the end.... android BB turned out to be a much worse failure than the BB10....
I had BB10 alive secure and updated for more than 5 years, instead of a BBandroid less secure less in built quality and not over two years of upgrades...pffff

This is simply true. A lot of BlackBerry Android users will disagree because all they want is a PKB on Android, and it was clear that BB10 was a dead end. But the fact remains that many, many more people bought the lowly Z10 slab than ever bought all of the BlackBerry Android phones combined!
