Security patch level on my BB Key2 is dated April 5, 2019; today is 19 June and still no update. I wonder if they are going to update the OS any longer? As it looks today, it's probably the last BB I will ever own.

Tell me how; my phone is a BBF100-2
    Thanks
But... shouldn't it get it automatically?

My NA Silver variant is also on April Patch. The OTA updates have come at the end of the month lately. Looks like more than half of us were skipped in May.

You have a North American variant which means you can use June autoloader posted here.

Loading instructions are available here as well.

94% of KEY² devices (78 variants) are on (or about to be on) the June patch.

I find this kinda of funny. You tell me one other phone maker that even comes close to monthly updates?

I'm kind of dissapointed too. I thought that the unlocked NA variant would be the one to get the updates first. Well at least the other variants are doing additional QA on the patches.

    All KEY² devices are factory-unlocked.

Monthly updates that end at 24 months... at which point apparently montly updates aren't all that big of a deal it seems.

Sorry but the sad state of Android updates in 2015, isn't the same four years later. I'd prefer an Android One device, a Google device or the Samsung that I use now.... it got updates via the carrier nine out of twelve months last year, and is still on the update schedule for quarterly updates now... and it's three years old phone.

Personally I'd be fine with quarterly updates from any Android OEM, if the OEM is going to support the phone for a longer period - 5 years should be the minimum at this point for flagship devices.

Moreover, as good as they are with monthly updates, they're also not completely baffled by the idea of major updates.

They don't. But they do have a great history of pushing even major OS updates to older devices.

I know. Just a fictitious response to the idea of "monthly" updates from Apple.

As my wife is an iPhone user since the 3G, I do know their record.

While yes, it's not "monthly," the dot revisions (e.g., 12.3.1 going to 12.3.2) do occur frequently enough to mention.

Nokia/HMD, any Android One device, and even Samsung are good about monthly updates on their flagships. Not only that but they provide 3 years worth of security updates.

Google has gotten stricter about OEM's patching their devices and some recent changes to Android have made it easier.

They just transitioned my three year old S7 to quarterly updates... at this point not sure when patches will end.

The thing is, back five years ago when BlackBerry decided to move to Android it was a very different patching and update picture for most Android users. Patches were almost unheard of and even OEM updates hardly made it to users if a carrier was involved. Sadly what BlackBerry is offering at this point isn't really "premium" anymore.

To make old devices slower and to push people to buy the new ones lol.

Older, slower and still supported vs. Older, and no longer supported. Pick your poison.

No Android smartphone receives updates as fast as Google's Pixels.

That being said, are timely updates more important to you than the physical keyboard?

Side note: My KEY2 which is a PRD-63825-004 model just got the June update ABY271 today
