After doing the Security Wipe, the opening screen appears - to "select Language" however I cannot get the screen to accept my tap.

Try restarting it now that it's at your initial setup screen. If it's not responding to touches, it can either be hardware or software related.

In most cases, it's software. Especially if prior to making your changes (security wipe is a change) the screen worked, then stopped after the security wipe, it's probably software related and might need to either be restarted or the entire OS reinstalled.

I'm planning on buying a PlayBook in 2018, just to be 'that guy' who makes use of things that others don't.
