With the new phones with folding screens having a very square resolution, I would assume Android now supports a wider Passport style resolution? Does that mean a Passport style Android phone is now a possibility? I still want a keyboard, but I could use a bigger screen. Don't mind a wider phone, actually I prefer it.

Samsung Fold has a main display of 16:10 (7.3") and an external display of 21:9 (4.6").

I believe the Huawei Mate X is closer to square than the Samsung Fold and I read somewhere that devs will have to be "persuaded" to change/alter apps in some cases. Resolution unfolded is 2480 x 2200.

At $1,500 - $2,500... not sure these are going to be a big part of the Android market anytime soon. Will have to see how well these work with today's apps. But still nothing to support 1x1 display.

Would be cool to see a side by side comparison of the Samsung and the Huawei... but both are much more than I'd spend on a smartphone.

But a couple years from now... as the technology gets refined and becomes more affordable.... it will be very interesting.

Actually I got pretty good with this (typing) on the Playbook, better while standing up for some reason. Sitting down and doing this was a bit tiresome (especially with a pc keyboard within reach). Eventually got a generic bluetooth mini-keyboard for the playbook (just to **** off the ipad associate :-) ...but again nowhere near as good as with the Physical (PKB) keys.

I still say a foldable with two separate glass pieces folding flat (even with a gap) would be cheaper and a better touch experience, than folding plastic screens.

(Alas...BB10 was bred for the foldable phone (z20/20) , and no one gave it an invite to the party.)

Depends how it's implemented.

My OP question was more asking if a Passport sized phone with the Squarish resolution would be possible, not whether some giant fold out screen is possible. Obviously that is possible, as other phones look to have it soon.
