Like I said in the title, I feel long press activating the second key value would be great as there is already a shift button.

Anything out there that can achieve this?

    Thanks

No way to achieve it. Although, you could look at it the other way and say there is an ALT button for what you want to achieve .

If they just built a device with an extra row of keys just for the numbers, I'll buy it in a heartbeat.

You know you can hold the alt key down for a second and it locks it (you'll see alt in the of notification bar) and allows you to keep typing numbers without having to hit alt each time. I'm assuming you must type a lot of number if you want a dedicated row just for them.

I believe this is achievable by pressing SYM twice and then use the virtual keyboard or SYM once and sliding from right on VKB.

    Hope this helps
