I randomly decided to throw my Verizon SIM in my KEY2 this evening and to my surprise everything worked (other than receiving texts). I called and received calls and was able to send texts. Data seems to work as well. Any ideas on how to fix the final missing link? I have the newest SIM as I needed it from my KEY2 LE, so that shouldn't be the issue.

If so, yes, download quickshortcutmaker, expand ARDA, click on ARDA, then click "try". That should launch ARDA. Click "IMS", then click "1xRTT and SMS" and make sure SMS Format is set to "3GPP". If it's set to 3GPP2 then you won't be able to receive texts on big red. Let us know your results.

What version of the Key2 are you using?

Have you tried using the Verizon Message app to get your text messages?

confirmed that changing to 3GPP2 allows you to receive messages. However, you can't send until you switch back to 3GPP. More testing will happen tonight.

Since this is the same issue that the KEY² LE faced, one would think that if you simply told Verizon you had a KEY² LE, they can make it work by the same provisioning trick.

Spoke with Verizon level 2 for an hour and unfortunately it looks like this one is not going to happen. I tried everything that was mentioned in the KEY2 LE article (SFO batch, new SIM, etc) and unfortunately the KEY2 is still not receiving SMS.

Old article, but it could be worth a shot...

Verizon Messages app brings text messages to all your tablets (hands on)

This solution works. So, it means it's just a matter of correct provisioning.

The ARDA switch does work, but is a pain to hop between 3GPP and 3GPP2 constantly

    I know.

My point was that this is exactly what was happening with the KEY² LE.

So years beyond BB10 and to a different company, and we are still relying on work around and fixing things ourselves for a BlackBerry phone?

Yeah but average Joe isn't going to research all this. If it doesn't work out of the box, many may just bring it back. It's a shame and obviously Verizon has no clue or it isn't important enough to educate all of its tech support people.

It is happening with ALL LTE-only devices.

That is one more example. So, it's widespread?

If so, then why doesn't their tech support recognize the problem?

Many do. It just hasn't filtered to everyone yet. This is a new thing for Verizon.

What device was your SIM in before you put it in the Key2 and did this previous device already have WiFi calling working on it?

You should try putting a brand NEW SIM in the Key2, as that's what fixed the text challenge on the Key2 LE. If anyone tries popping a new SIM into the Key2 please let us know if that works, as I suspect it will resolve the issue. And frankly it would be GREAT if the Key2 now works on VZW just by popping in a new SIM (apparently it needs to be picked up at a VZW corporate store)!!!

Sounds like a good opportunity for an app that automatically switches between 3GPP and 3GPP2 and back again...it would be nice to see hacks working to solve silly corporate issues.
