That definitely explains the wobble and why it clicks different than other keys. Because it is a different key! Lol

Thanks for doing this OP! The picture most interesting is the one of the side view of the spacebar. I see there's that centre post that acts as the fulcrum for the teeter-totter effect of the spacebar. What I still don't get though is why my KEYone doesn't exhibit the same seesaw-like characteristic.

I wonder if number on the back of the keyboard 20180624 is the build date of just the keyboard, or also the entire device?

We've been recording build dates as shown in the software of the phone, but maybe that date is not linked to the build date of these keyboards.

Maybe there is a specific batch of keyboards that are bad, but this batch got spread around to all different build dates of devices.

The build date of this device is 20180724.

Good catch on the print on the back of the board.

So the keyboard attached to this torn-down KEY2 was made exactly one month before the device itself... hmm...

Is the spacebar wobbly on it? Not sure if you already mentioned that somewhere on your teardowns

Would you be able to see if there is any play in the keyboard position relative to the metal frame?

For example, do the 3 black plastic centering pegs on the back of the keyboard (where the screws run through) fit perfectly into the 3 grey plastic holes on the frame, or do they have a tiny bit of room to shift around?

I ask because my keyboard is attached to the phone crooked. The top right of the keyboard is nearly 1mm away from the bottom of screen.

I'm curious if this is just due to a lazy worker who didn't ensure it was aligned before screwing the keyboard down to the frame, or if its a manufacturing defect in my particular device.

    Thanks

Yes, exactly....according to the manufacturer. The spacebar wasn't too wobbly and I'd say it was fine, but I did have 4-5 pry marks next to the screen on the 'shipped-as-new' device. Hmmmmmmmmmmm.

Wise. The build date of this device was 20180724, so it appears the build date of my keyboard here is one month prior. And this keyboard was rock solid, as is my other 7/24 Key2.

Spacebar's exact pressing point is actually in the center of the button.
OP would you like to make it into 1 post after you finished all that 5 parts? So it could be easier to read.

You can use different post but keep it in one thread. #1 post for 1 part, #2 post for 2part and goes on. Thanks.

My KEY2 build date is 06/24 and the spacebar is fine, for now. Just a tiny bit more play than when out of the box but was the same with every KEYone I had also. Right now I'm still within the 30 day return window with Clove UK, and if it gets annoyingly loose, I'm exchanging it.

I pulled my Key2 apart to fix the keyboard alignment. The spacebar on my device is really bad compared to other Key2's I've tried in store.

My device build date is July 4, but the keyboard was built June 13.

This is the entire keyboard assembly?

Affirm, what's in the picture is the entire keyboard. Comes out of the frame in one piece.

If you're referring to the date, I'm assuming that date is for the entire keyboard, and not just that metal piece the date is stamped on.

Interesting. So overall, is this an easy to remove keyboard assembly? You did mention the fragile front piece (the one that acts as frets).

I actually posted a how-to in Part 1 of this thread with pictures. Its super easy. Just like the passport, except with more glue, but its not a show stopper.
