Epilogue: After this happened way back last November, I left the phone sitting in a drawer for a week, tried it out before shipping to a repair shop, and it has worked fine since, without my doing anything.

The boot loops came back yesterday; I'm going to try the same approach, meaning I have to wait till Monday. Photo taken with my back-in-service KeyOne.

If that doesn't work, I might try the repair place I contacted back then, about getting the flex cable replaced, because that seemed the most viable solution. The battery is wearing thin so it could be worthwhile getting it replaced at the same time.

I'm wondering how much money and work I want to put into this phone. It's very nice to use, keyboard-wise, but it isn't quite a BlackBerry. Not made by or designed by BB, not BB10, so it's doesn't quite satisfy the collector's mania impulse. I'll know better next week.

I like the KeyOne but those aluminum coloured edges make it look like something bought at Dollarama.

My general rule of thumb is don't spend more buying a phone than a gun and don't spend more repairing a phone than a magazine.

Since Paul lives in Canada though, it does leave a rather large spending budget ;-)

The method worked again - just charged it and it's working. Don't know what to do with it; I've gotten used to the KeyOne for sim card purposes. Plus I like it better as a telephone - the Key2 is a bit faint in the ear in comparison.
