it won't let me upload the video, but a YouTube video from TechSloth "BlackBerry KEY2 First Impressions and Hands on" at around the 1:50 he says it's the first BlackBerry device that's rated for IP68.

Is this true?! Because if so then I'm a hundred prevent on board!

If someone's able to upload the video, cause it won't let me for some stupid reason :/

I don't know where the reviewer got that from, but there's no mention of it on the BB Mobile webstite spec's, or in the post from Bla1ze (https://crackberry.com/blackberry-ke...jg0LscBmtHj.97). I believe the reviewer just plain made a mistake or was misinformed. But we'll await someone more official than a lowly Mod.

In the meantime, I've updated the thread title to avoid widespread heart attacks among the members...

Ecm, Thanks for updating the title. I appreciate your input. I almost fell over in my chair when I heard it. lol. I didn't think it was true but it would of been a nice surprise!!! A IP-rated PKB device.. one can only dream.

I think the guy was drunk, notice all the empty glasses on the table? I have not seen it mentioned anywhere else that it has a waterproof rating. Maybe he had the Motion on his mind with a IP67 rating??

We should ask the reviewer to drop it in a full glass and report back lol.

Yes, an IP68 rated pkb is as unlikely as me turning down free beer and chicken wings.

Too bad. I would consider BlackBerry again if they are waterproof. My fully functional BlackBerry Passport went goodbye when I got dunked with a bucket of water from winning a tournament. Now I don't have this fear with an iPhone 8+.

Right, you don’t. However you better cover that i8+ since Apple charges about 350-400$ to repair a cracked/shattered back glass panel.

So more splash resistant, absolutely. More drop resistant though? Not sure

Based on that you may now be sure to never win another tournament again!

Yup, they did it with the Priv. It's keyboard is a single piece of rubber, and guess what? Water doesn't go through rubber. And as a bonus, no single key could ever fall off

Priv is the farest from spoil-resistant as it can be, cause of slider-design and the keys perhaps is one piece of rubber but you can clearly see on the edges of PKB there are lighted cracks where water would run in very fast: https://forums.crackberry.com/showth...1#post13142418

Not that a PKB phone can't be made water resistant, but I highly doubt PRIV is.

Reviewers need to get off the monetizing part & focus more on atleast reading a spec sheet clearly. Atleast the one's who chose to review a niche within a niche BB device.

I meant the Priv's keyboard design, not the rest of the phone. I know full well that a waterproof slider is probably the hardest to accomplish (still doable, just would be expensive as hell).

So I'm not saying you could spill water on the Priv's keyboard, because there are no seals around it, but the way it's designed opens the door to waterproofing, if done right.
