    here's my guess.
    new btn is app drawer
they are bringing back the bb10 gestures
no more capacitive or onscreen btns
just not sure how the back btn will work and where it will be.
    No.

    No.

    No.

I think this new key is for flow. If you look at the screen you see that is no virtual buttons for home, back or recent apps. I think they anticipate keytwo to Android P and let that space for peak and flow like on my Z10, you need a empty area for that. Meanwhile, the new key will make the job, swipe left = back, press = home, double click = recent apps, or swipe up= home, swipe down = recent apps. Anything is possible. Will see...

Anticipating for Android P? But they key was already on the earlier leaks and those leaks were from way before Android P was demoed.

It works like a Shift Key, press that and some key and it works for Shorcuts instead of press and hold a key. And it probably work across different launchers and screens, for example:

New KEY + H to open HUB form anywhere!

I think I understand now... seems like a way to access your keyboard shortcuts from any screen. So instead of going to home, hold the Grid key and press the corresponding keyboard shortcut.
But that is what the circle home key already does? At least the same number of key strokes so no real gain.

Some rumors are saying that this is a "switch" botton to go from android to BB10 and vice versa.

It does makes sense because other rumors mentionned that the KEY2 will have a BB10 runtime out of the box.

BB10 is dead, completely dead. Why would they do that?

Plus as far as I know Google DOESN'T ALLOW Dual boot so that won't happen.

I guess this key will bring back some functionality from legacy devices (BlackBerry OS or BB10). maybe thats why the tagline says "an ICON reborn"

Circle key takes you to the home screen. When @thurask said "modifier" , it means holding it down to activate the shortcut directly without going to the home screen at all. As in holding it down like a CTRL+key shortcut.

So current app > home > shortcut target vs current app > shortcut target.

still don't know why they couldn't brand the new "speed key" with the blackberry logo....kind of a wasted opportunity there IMO

So now we need to clarify:

SpeedKey [¦¦¦] is to use shortcuts from every app and can therefor be used as full screen quick switch between apps.

CurrencyKey [$] or [€] is now called costum key and can be customised like the former right SHIFT key as Ctrl-key, view notifications, switch keyboard language or the right shift key.

    Attachment 436767

So we loose some parallel functions (currency + CTRL) to gain universal shortcuts.
    Am I right there?

Perhaps the BlackBerry logo isn’t something new users want to brag about. I love my BlackBerry devices, yet I don’t feel the need to have discussions with people about how BlackBerry is still around with Android, blah, yada etc.

That makes sense for sure, but it is unique to BlackBerry. I mean where else would you find a device that can do that? Lol. But I get it "global" audience for sure. Point taken haha.
