When BBM presented the KEY2 spent few minutes talking about the camera.

In particular they showed off the integrated Google Lens app in the camera software.

Also the official video presents that feature (see the screenshot taken from it) but the function is nowhere to be found in the current camera app (right now it is version 1.1.3573.0519).

Either I am missing something or that feature is coming in a camera app update that I hope can fix several other issues that users are experiencing..

It's coming in the first MR update, until then, you can use it in the Google Photos app.
