Has to do with a combination of things I believe. I have the same experience, and in this case hardware specs have a lot to do with it. Focal point has it's limits, and so does the sensor (catching enough light?).
I'm on a KEY² LE and in my case it doesn't matter in which mode. When I get too close there is no way of a sharp shot.
You can try a macro lense in front of the main camera...

Thanks for the reply. I do have a Canon for great and macro shots, but don't always have it with me. Limitations for sure! At least I know I am not doing something wrong.

Lolz at Pocophone as the example for good specs at low price.

It's a forgettable slab with a high end snapdragon thrown in, it probably struggles with updates, doesn't have smooth software and/or bad software skin.

Throwing a high end chip in some low end chinese device is NOT enough to make a device premium.

It's already on Pie, and likely will get MIUI 11 and Q upcoming. It also has the same camera sensor as pixel 3 (imx363). Do some search, youtube is free for knowledge. Seriously, you're crap

Also let me add this, my backup phone now is redmi note 4X. I got this for around $174 in march 2017 in Indonesia (same specs, but $400 cheaper than "you know what"). And it'll get MIUI 11 (official announcement from xiaomi).

It's incredibly hard, actually. The amount of people who are experts in coding and tuning smartphone cameras, including the post-processing and taking full advantage of all of the many, many modes and processes and sensors, etc. is well under 20 people worldwide - and you can bet that half or more of them work for Apple, Samsung, LG, and Nokia. These aren't just random programmers - they're super-specialist artists, and I'd be shocked if they made less than $1M a year (I wouldn't be surprised if many made 2-5x that a year).

There just aren't many of these people to go around, and like anyone, they want to work on the best gear at the best places, which means it's difficult for smaller companies to get them even on a temporary basis, which forces them to use people who are NOT experts.

If you think of it in car terms, there are only a couple of Formula One teams who have teams that can not just build a car, but TUNE that car correctly for each track and get a high-position finish to be competitive. You could buy the exact same engine, transmission, suspension pieces, etc., but if you don't have guys who are experts at TUNING those pieces, your car simply isn't going to go around the track as fast, and you won't be competitive.

They wouldn't need to "tune" it as much if the key2 had a decent image sensor like the key1. Anyone ever notice that phones with good image sensors take good photos? Even if the brand doesn't have a partnership with Leica or Carl Zeiss?

Processing the hell out of it is trying to make up for a sub par image sensor. Should have gone for a sony imx (like the K1), or used a much better samsung sensor.

Compared to every other smartphone i had (nexus 5, yotaphone 2, old samsung phones, BlackBerry k1 and k2 and more). It really has problems on close objects and takes some time to focus.

it is funny most people complain abot photo quality on k2. i like the quality and don't give a damn about perfect light etc as long as i can recognize all details.

Well, my wife's iPhone 8 and my son's iPhone 7 blow our cameras away, fact not fiction. But like you, the camera on my K2 is now good enough for my needs. To say flagship cameras are just hype is well, just silly. Cheers,

Calling people clueless doesn’t help your cause.
There is no way on earth the Key2 camera is on par with a modern iPhone or Android. Is it “good enough”? Sure, maybe for you, me and many people. Mobile devices go everywhere including weddings, special events, sporting events, etc. Having an excellent camera is important to a lot of people.

The KEY phones cameras are good enough for me the rare times I find myself using them, but they're not even in the same ballpark as any iPhone since the 7 or any Android flagship of the last three years.

Camera is absolutely not a distinctive feature of the KEY phones, and it's not where they excel.

The KEYone's was the only one that got decent feedback.

If we're comparing only to older BB's (which isn't saying much), then of course the KEYone's is leaps and bounds better. And it actually held its own in 2017 when it launched.

So HOW is the camera after the new update's last spring/summer 2019 is the camera better at the moment software wise?

I see different samples and looks like pictures of people/object are hard with bokah style but must say some look good but with building/dogs it looks the dog looks good but behind get lesser sharp as example.

So I'm curious of normal pictures still has that blurry thing where it is not focused and bokak is something I don't care and also no selfies For example i saw a church and front looks good but the side deeper was more blurry? Seems a software issue or glitch .

Yes the Red is cheaper then the Black Edition or Silver Edition. The red is 594 euro. The black is 597 euro and the Silver is 629 euro. The Netherlands
