Here is the Jan 5 patch (bolted on to last May's OS) for the KEY².

This OS build is meant only for North American devices - if installed on others, you may lose Google certification.

This will NOT install on Chinese (BBF100-4), Russian (PRD-63828-006), or Indian (PRD-63828-031) devices.

This will NOT install on any devices with PRDs ending in -5XX.

Remove device PIN/password, boot to bootloader screen, and run either flashall or flashallnowipe as per your preference. Note that if you choose to wipe, you do not have to remove your password first.

Who would have known I'd have one of the 3 (of 90) KEY² variants still getting updates? Strange indeed.

    I have a Key2 BBF-100-2 here in USA -Tmobile ,
    PRD is 63825-003,
and I just saw the update OTA .

should I install it?, will I lose messages app from Google in a few months? (read an article about unauthorized Android phones-is the Key2 an unauthorized Google phone?)

    currently in ACT911.

    thanks!

I ran the autoloader on both my KEY2's, and here's what happened:

My BBF100-6 with PRD-63828-019 (dual sim HK), shows "Device is not certified" in the Play Store settings.

    However,

My BBF100-2 with PRD-63825-015 (single sim NA) which also wasn't supposed to get the update, remained "Play Protect certified" afterwards.

I do appreciate the continuation of theses updates for the KEY2, especially after TCL/BlackBerry Mobile made an "official" statement they would be discontinuing support for the KEY2 last August as I understood it. I have read all the speculation here on CrackBerry as to why these updates keep showing up, but has there been anything "official" stated by TCL/BlackBerry Mobile as to why these updates are continuing?

    That's because it's region-specific.

The necessary paperwork was done to certify this build for North America, and the BBF100-2 is the NA model.

    Nothing official.

Although TCL wouldn't be doing it unless someone had a gun to its head.

The fact that only 3 of 90 KEY² variants are getting the updates basically proves the theory.

Regardless of the reason for the updates, it's a positive thing for a little added runway with the KEY 2 devices.

Hopefully this bridges the security patches for the small group of hardcore fans and small group of enterprise clients to the OM devices in 2021.

I'm still on BB 10 for my basic needs but if it goes south in that department, I may need to pick up a used Key 2 to keep me going. Having a patch in 2021 is helpful.

Does this mean that without an OTA, the patch cannot/should not be applied?
If it can be, does one download then click on the xxx.7z file; or does the bootloader flasshnowipe function automatically finds the xxx.7z? I have not done this before and could not find a "procedure" in Search.
